Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Apart from our courses, we do have extracurricular courses like VAC, SEC, and AEC. In Vac and Sec, we do have a variety of courses to choose from. In my first sem, I have opted for Financial Literacy as my Vac and Creative Writing as my Sec. I must admit that both courses taught me something that I was unaware. In Fin Lit, we learned about insurance, basic money-related things, scams, and fraud, and how we can prevent them from happening. It was helpful for me as I got to know a lot about basic things that I was probably not known to. We also got to know how to calculate tax and so on. Creative writing also helped me to polish my writing and critical thinking, which ended up helping me with answer writing for my core papers. On the other hand, in AEC, we have to study EVS in one sem, and a language in another sem. I'm not so sure about AEC, but VAC and SEC does help me with overall growth as a student.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Hansraj offers a range of internship opportunities through its strong network with various industries. The internship opportunities available for students range from Content writing, Marketing & Sales, and Public Relations to Finance & Consulting, Research & Development. The average stipend for any role differs from 5,000 to 15,000/month. However, for finance, it can go up to 25,000 as well. The most well-known companies offer internships such as EY, Deloitte, PepsiCo, Hindustan Times, and so on.

Placement Experience

3

Hansraj has a strong reputation for its academic and vibrant campus life. Hansraj Placement Cell facilitates placements across various courses. However, English Honours might not see the same direct placements as technical and management courses. Yet, students still have opportunities to secure positions in fields like content writing, publishing, media, advertising, and public relations. Many students also gain practical experiences through internships in Publishing houses, Media companies, NGOs, and so on. In the future, students can go for higher studies. Some can plan their career in the teaching and research field. Others can opt for creative fields like content creation, and journalism. There are slight chances for them to work in the corporate sector too as they possess critical thinking, and communication skills, which are highly valued in finding roles in Human Resources, Marketing, and business development.

Fees and Financial Aid

Hansraj with its name does have a fee structure a bit more costly than many other colleges of DU. For my course, we have 24,000/year. Science courses even have fees ranging from 28,000 to 30,000. Regarding Placement and Internships, I have noticed that Hansraj is pretty much beneficial for Bcom (H), Eco (H), and Com. Sci. (H) solely as most of the companies are from the IT sector and they mostly demand freshers from such courses. However, there's a slight opportunity for Philosophy and English (H) too. But most companies target commerce and science backgrounds. For Internships, there are numerous opportunities available throughout the year. There are various opportunities open for almost all courses. Apart from DU scholarships, Hansraj also upholds various scholarships for students. Overall, in terms of placement and internships, it is preferable for the commerce and science background.

Campus Life

4

My overall experience at Hansraj has been rewarding. I have diverse social interactions, and participated in numerous extracurricular activities. The social life is lively with events and informal gatherings. Clubs like Dramsoc, and Dance Society keep the campus lively. Being a part of Udaan, the motivational society of Hansraj, has been particularly beneficial. It helps me with personal development and networking skills. While also being a Coordinator at Internship Cell helped me in gaining knowledge and insights about the corporate sector and how the entire placement things works. It has been great as you get exposure and got to know companies' progress and career paths.

Admission

To get admitted into DU, one needs to take CUET (Common Universities Entrance Test), in which for BA (H) courses, you have to choose 3 main papers that you've studied in your 12th along with 1 language paper. I had Political Science, Geography, and History along with English. After CUET, one needs to register on DU's CSAS portal for further counseling. The admission process is divided into 3 phases. In 1st phase, you need to fill basic details and submit your documents if you're availing any reservation. For the next phase, you'll get a chance to fill preference sheet, in which you'll rank colleges and courses according to your desire. In 3rd phase, if you're not satisfied with the result, you can go for another round (in which you can get top colleges of your list in the 2cd list). However, chances are there that you'll finalise your college in the very first list. The cut off for General differs from course to course. For my course, the last cut off was 750 for general.

Faculty

3

Our faculty includes Assistant and Associate professors. For the first Sem, you'll only get to interact with Assistant Professors. However, from the second semester, you'll start seeing variety. We do have tuts to discuss our doubts and give presentations solely. Our faculty does help us with doubt sessions. Moreover, they do help us find extra readings and critical essays. They also suggest other books that can help us with forming and structuring the answer. Some Professors also share their personal tips of writing great answers, which for sure seems helpful, for me, at least. Overall, I think one needs to work on themselves as solely with the help of a Professor, you cannot score well.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
