Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is tough as compair to other nits. In 1st year every branch is taught basics about each branch which might feel irrelevant but from 2nd year courses start geeting into deep and are good enough for placement oppurtunities. There are two major exams Mid semester and End Semester exam along with one minor test. The question papers are bit lenghty and competitive.
Internships Opportunities
The internship oppurtunitues are descnet enough. The list of companies offering internship are Samsung as a devlpoer , Bharat Electronics Limited as a VLSI circuit design engineers, Amazon Web services as a devloper , Jio Platforms ,etc. The intenships are mostly for 2 months of time period some are of 6 months.The stipend vary from 10k to 50k depending upon your skills.
Placement Experience
The median package offered offered during Btech and Mtech palcement 2023 stppd at INR 13.95LPA and INR 6LPA, respectively.While the highest and average package offered in NIt Silchar was INR 80 LPA and INR 14.39 LPA respectively.The average package offered to electrical branch was INR 12.28 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
For a general and OBC category student fees varies from student to student according to their family income. If the parent income is above 5 lakhs then student have to pay 90433 rupess per semester, if students family income is between 1 and 5 lakhs then student have to pay one third of the tution fee. If students family income is less than 1 lakh then student have to pay 10100 and this is same for students belonging from Sc and St category. There are of scholarhsips available here like Swami Dayanand saraswati scholarship, Reliance scholarship, Yuva Unstoppable Scholarship and many others government funded scholarships.
Campus Life
Two major fest are celebrated in NIT silchar one is tech fest named Tecnoesis and other is cultural fest named Incandescence.Along with them many minor fests are celebrated like Ugadi and Poshua.You can get maximum 5 books from Asia's Lagest digital library in Nit Silchar each semester. The classroms are eqipped with projectors. The sports facility is also good here. Here you will get a football ground , Cricket ground , Basketball court, Kho -KHo ground . Morever you will get Gym here free of cost.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are new for 1st years so rooms for good . In 1st year you will be given double seater rooms. Food quality is descent as foods are oily you will get non-veg almost every day except one day in a week.Registration process for hostels is done along with the semester registration.
Admission
To get into the Nit Silchar you have to score descent in jee mains entrance exam. The admission process was little bit hectic as the adminstrator checks each and every document carefully.There are mojaor two exams held named midsemester and end semester examination along with one minor test. The level of difficulty is good .
Faculty
Faculty members are good here some with very high educational background. Many professors have published their research paper.Some professors have good knowledge in their field but do not know how to teach .
