What Students Say
Likes
- Amidst the hustle and bustle of the surrounding area of Karol Bagh, the campus of Janki Devi Memorial College provides an immense green environment. The lawns,'charaka vatika',mango trees, jackfruit trees would surely make you feel positive.
- Basic amenities like medical aid, water, washrooms and sanitary pad wending machine are always up to the mark. I've never seen any discrepancy in any of them.
- The college campus has shown a consistency in terms of cleanliness.
Dislikes
- Some of the classrooms are too small to accommodate even 20 students.
- The canteen staff is rude. The food is also not recommendable.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course which I chose was all out of 'need of the moment'. My course included hindi and history as the discipline subjects. The course which I've studied in hindi was not adequate even for CUET PG. Many important topics have been skipped in the syllabus offered to students of BA Programme (referring to CBCS LOCF course only). I think programme courses are good for students aiming for UPSC.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are not offered by the college directly, instead they organise career counselling seminars and fairs. You just need to reach out to them and avail the internship. The best stipend I know is around 6 lakhs per year.
Placement Experience
The Career Opportunity Cell provides various placement opportunities from the first year itself. However, the number of students applying for the internships is not much high but the cell gives its best for the purpose. Many of my friends applied for internship at 'MyCaptain' and earned quite well. I'll go for a postgraduate degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee for BA Programme was around 14000/- per year at the time I got admission but later in the second year it reached around 20000/- for some reasons,in the third year it was 18000. The sudden hike was done in the name of installing water coolers and renovation work for NAAC accreditation. Scholarships are available for financially challenged students and various subject toppers.
Campus Life
The college fest 'Symphony' is one of the best and all the departments too have their fests. There are more than 30 societies in the college to engage your creativity. Football, basketball, cricket tournaments are also organised. To keep in mind, the college does not entertain any political activity in the campus.
Admission
Admission were merit based at that time. I took admission in the first cut off on the basis of my 12th class result (92%) but now the admissions are solely based on CUET UG and PG. Reservation Benefits can be availed in the form of relief in the cutoff which is generally low.The exams are held at the end of every semester.
Faculty
Most of the teachers are approachable and helpful here. Especially the philosophy department is one of the best in the university. The faculty, however, relies more on the manual method of teaching rather than using smart board facilities.(With special reference to the hindi department) The faculty-to-student ratio is reasonable.
Other Applied Colleges
Delhi University - [DU] | Master of Arts [MA] (Hindi)
The department of hindi under the university is economically more feasible than any other college of the university
