Remarks

Dehradun is a good place to live in, make memories and live in nature. A number of good places to visit like Rishikesh, Mussoorie, Nainital and so on. But studying at this university can be a very expensive experience for you.

Entrance Preview

I took admission through UPESEAT, my rank was AIR 149. This was my last option and since I was told that Petroleum is the best branch here, so I opted for that.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The course curriculum is moderately balanced. We study all types of subjects like Engineering Graphics, Mechanics of Solids, Thermodynamics and Maths - 1, 2, 3. Though more focus is on theoretical subjects and very less on softwares related to oil & gas industry which we should be actually studying.

Internships Opportunities

College arranges internships for students in the Summer of 3rd Year generally in PSUs like ONGC, or in some private companies. There is rarely a stipend for the students. It all depends on how much you want to grasp and learn in your internship.

Placement Experience

1

Out of our batch of 59 students, around 50 have been placed. 2 were selected for Schlumberger by PPO, Package - 17 Lakhs 8 were selected by CGI, Package - 5 Lakhs 4 were selected by Shell Business Operations, Package - 5 Lakhs 2 were selected by Infosys, Package - 3.25 Lakhs 3 were selected by Wipro, Package - 5 Lakhs 4 were selected by Flutura, Package - 8 Lakhs 9 were selected by LTI, Package - 4.2 Lakhs 2 were selected by Exceedance, Package - 5.5 Lakhs 1 was selected by Half Tick, Package - 6 Lakhs 3 were selected by Reliance, Package - 6.5 Lakhs 2 were selected by HLS Asia, Package - 8.5 Lakhs 4 were selected by LTTS, Package - 4 Lakhs

College Events

2

Cultural Annual Fest is UURJA, which takes place in the month of October/November. The administration spends very less money, as a result of no big celebrity ever comes up. The fest is a good way of get-together though. The annual technical fest is Ignite, which takes place in February. This fest is of no level and the participation is really low.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is really expensive. In our time, fees of one semester was 1.3 Lakhs on an average which calculates to 11 Lakhs for the 4 years. Adding the hostel fees and other expenses it sums upto 16 Lakhs for 4 years. Though I've heard they have increased the fees now to about 2 Lakhs per semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

During the counseling in Delhi, there would be various Bank Stalls set up to assist in providing loans. Also, 2 toppers from each class get a 50% scholarship for the next semester.

Campus Life

3

One would enjoy the campus life given the environment in which the university is situated. The gender ratio is nearly 1:3 (G: B) or even worse. There are various societies in which you can participate in like the Dramatics, Dance, Music, Debates, and there are student chapters too fulfilling your curricular needs.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The campus hostel is really good with a brilliant living environment and decent food. Though the campus is situated 10 Kms from the city, there are certain options of eating outside the campus for hostellers. Campus hostel seats are limited and there are number of other hostels charging the same rate and providing convenience facilities at the same time.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni and college seniors are always helpful and interactive. They can be contacted in case of any query/doubts. Also, there is no such thing like ragging in the university so worry not.

Exam Structure

Exams are scheduled for consecutive days, so it is definitely hectic. While there are no lab exams, but regular assessment in labs and performance evaluation. Labs are generally chilled out. Exams structure consist of Mid Semester exams with a 20% weightage and End Semester exams with a 50% weightage. The rest 30% is filled by internals.

Admission

I gave the UPESEAT exam on May 18, 2014. Notification was released in early March though forms are usually open till the 1st week of may. After the result announcement, there was a counselling process in Delhi in June and College started in July 2018.

Faculty

2

There are a few good teachers who are genuinely interested in teaching and curious to learn as well. Rest of the Petroleum Department is full of useless teachers, who tend to annoy the students by their behaviour. Most of them are PhD or pursuing PhD.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is highly relevant, focusing on practical knowledge for real-world prep, though more hands-on application and updated content would strengthen it. Exams occur 6 times yearly; they are tough but fair for the course.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because of its affordability and the teaching quality of this college is good . They helps in choosing the real life application based projects . Teaching methods are impressive but they don't provide notes . We have make notes by attending class regularly. Frequency and timings of exams are of 3 hrs. For each subject . Difficulty level is moderate and students can prepare it well in the gap days also .
