Remarks

LSR changed me in a beautiful way, it empowered me to have a vision for my life and my surroundings.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

LSR has remained on the list of top colleges for humanities and commerce in the country for a very long time now. The college offers a variety of courses, and exams take place once in every semester (semester duration is 6 months). In addition to the university examination, the students are assessed on the basis of internal assessments which can be in the form of written assignments. presentations, research papers et cetera, as per the demands of the course.

Placement Experience

4.5

LSR has an active placement cell which keeps the students updated about the opportunities. The placement cell appoints a representative from every department providing a link to all departments and their needs. I interned with Teach For India in my second year, which is a part of Teach For All network, a group of independent organizations aiming to bring educational equality in the world. I applied through the mail forwarded by the placement cell.

College Events

5

Events take place in the college throughout the year, including college elections, department festivals, NSS Diwali Mela, workshops and lectures organized by different departments and societies. 'Tarang' is the annual cultural festival of LSR. which mostly takes place in the first week of February and offers an amazing environment full of band performances, games, DJ night, stand up comedies et cetera. The events prove to be a learning as well as an entertaining source.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The average fees for different courses range from 15k to 20k per year, the fee structure for international students is different. Being a government college, the college fees isn't the major concern, accommodation and travel are. If one is a local, one may use the metro or buses, as the college is well connected to the public transport system. An outsider can get a paying guest accommodation, at a walking distance, as per one's own budget, starting from about 10k.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, I didn't opt for any scholarship or educational loan. However, a range of scholarships is present for the students in need which are mostly awarded on the basis of merit and performance. http://lsr.edu.in/scholarships.asp

Campus Life

5

Lady Shri Ram College for women as the name suggests is an all women zone, with a beautiful campus with all the facilities like a great cafeteria, a Nescafe coffee shop, a stationery shop, a bookstore and a mother dairy outlet for soothing summers. It is a well designed space and is considered one of the best in Delhi University. Every department is active in terms of organizing workshops for learning. For extracurricular activities, there are different societies like for dance, debating, drama, western music, Indian music et cetera. The college has basketball, tennis, badminton and volleyball courts. The college as a cool amphitheatre and auditorium.

Alumni/Alumna

LSR has the names of successful and strong women in its alumni community, who have been a role model of empowerment and change for the entire country as well as the world. Aung San Suu Kyi, Gita Gopinath, Nidhi Razdan, Maneka Gandhi, Vinita Bali are only some of the names from the list, LSR women have been excelling in arts, politics, business, and administration. The senior students can be reached through the Ex-students of LSR community, details of which can be found on the site.

Admission

The first step towards LSR admissions is the online DU registration, followed by the release of cutoffs by different colleges for different courses. The admissions can be confirmed once the cut off is met. I got in through the third cut off for B.A.(H) English, securing 96% in my XII. Being a prestigious institution the cutoffs released by LSR tend to be on the higher side in comparison to the other colleges in DU. lsr.edu.in/images/Admission-Schedule-June2019.jpg

Faculty

5

Every department in LSR has a range of professors from different age groups creating the perfect blend of a traditional and contemporary teaching environment. The professors are experienced and updated, and encourage discussions and interactions in the classroom. Students get a chance to build a more comfortable and personal relationship with the professors in the tutorial classes. My experience of the classroom lectures in LSR broadened my vision and exposed me to the deeper and more productive aspects of my personality.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
