UPES, A college with opportunities

The college is located in the lap of mother nature. The weather is nice here. The atmosphere here is nice and is a good learning environment. Facilities of library and gym are appreciable. Classrooms are also well maintained.

Entrance Exam, Merit List

UPES has programs in collaboration with tech giants like IBM and Xebia. Some of the specializations are cloud computing, open source, graphics, and gaming, etc. The course is up to date. There are some subjects which are taught online. Students are taught subjects of their specialization also.

Internships offered here are certainly better than other colleges. B.tech students have to do an internship at the end of the 3rd year. Few students also get pre-placement offers after completing their internships.

Placements are above average. Almost everyone gets placed here. Many top companies and recruiters visit the college for on-campus interviews. Students are already prepared for working in the industry.

Ouija is the annual two-day fest of the college. Many fun events are organized including DJ night and a concert. Ignite is the technical fest. Throughout the year many fun and technical events are organized. The student chapters in the college also organize events.

The fee is quite high compared to other colleges though students are provided with many facilities on the campus. I think the fee can be more economical keeping in mind the interests of a common man, it will be very beneficial.

Scholarships are offered by the college to meritorious students. There are two categories- All India Merit and Uttarakhand Domicile. The eligibility criteria are 80% marks in class 10th and 12th with 85% in PCM.

Laboratories are well equipped. Lab assistants are helpful. Sports facilities are average. There is one sports ground. There is one newly constructed multi-activity center where various events are organized.

The campus hostel cannot accommodate all the students so there are many private hostels which are equally good. Transport is provided to students to commute between college and hostel. Hostels are well maintained and the food is average.

Seniors are helpful and guide students with their past experiences. UPES is a ragging free campus. There is a cordial relationship between juniors and seniors. Alumni network is growing slowly. Many pass outs are placed at distinguished positions.

The grading at UPES is 50 % of end term exams, 20% of midterm exams and 30% of internal assessment which involves assignments and tests. In a laboratory, grading is done on the basis of continuous evaluation.

I appeared for UPESEAT conducted by the college. After the declaration of results, students were called for counseling on the basis of the ranks they secured. The counseling sessions were conducted in various cities like Dehradun, New Delhi. I opted for the course of my preference and deposited the required amount and documents.

Faculty of the college are well qualified and experienced. Some teachers are very helpful. They have proper knowledge of the subject. They guide students about the industry. The student to faculty ratio is good in UPES.
