Course Curriculum Overview

4

I would say the course curriculum at Our College is pretty relevant and covers a lot of ground, which is one reason I chose this Philosophy program. It dives into various topics like ethics and political philosophy that really get you thinking and can be useful in real life. I think there’s room for improvement, it would be great to see more focus on current issues and maybe some interdisciplinary content. The teaching styles vary a lot some professors are really engaging, while others stick to lectures. Exams happen regularly, with midterms and finals, and they can be a bit tough but are good for testing what we’ve learned.

Internships Opportunities

4

Gargi College internship opportunities are decent. Some of the companies that offer internships include Tata Consultancy Services and HDFC Bank, where students typically take on roles in research and client interaction. Interns usually receive a stipend which can range from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 depending on the company and role. Many students work on projects related to social research or marketing strategies which involve analyzing data and presenting findings. Some of my classmates interned with a local NGO, where they helped design awareness campaigns on social issues.

Placement Experience

3

The placements at Gargi College are somewhat limited especially for Philosophy students. Students become eligible for campus placements starting in the sixth semester, but the opportunities can be sparse. Some companies do visit, but the number of offers is not high last year, we had a few local firms come in, and I heard about around 20 offers made overall. The highest package was decent, but it wasn’t anything like what you'd see for tech programs most students were looking at average packages that were pretty modest. I think around 30 to 40% of students manage to secure placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee Structure & Scholarships for Philosophy Program at Gargi College (DU): The yearly fee for the Philosophy program is Rs. 18,000, It covers tuition and all compulsory charges. The fees have remained stable without significant increases. There are scholarships like the Merit cum Need available for students who perform well academically or need financial support. Students from categories like SC, ST, and OBC may also have fee waivers or additional financial aid.

Campus Life

4.5

My overall experience with campus life at Gargi College has been quite enjoyable especially when it comes to the social aspects. We have some awesome annual festivals like Gargi Fest, which happens in March, and it’s a blast with performances and competitions. There’s also a technical fest called Techno-Gargi usually held in October, where students showcase their projects and skills. The library is good, with a decent range of books and journals available, making it easy to find resources for our studies. In terms of infrastructure, the classrooms are equipped with basic tech, which helps during lectures. Sports and extracurricular activities are a big part of campus life too. There are various teams for sports like basketball and badminton, along with cultural clubs that keep things Enjoyable. Plus, there are several student-run groups and clubs, like the Philosophy Society..

Admission

Speaking honestly Delhi University was my dream, i joined this college through CUET Counselling so it was not in my hand to specifically join gargi, but when i a was allotted this college i locked the choice as it was a girls college and safer for women so it was a good choice for me.

Faculty

4

The faculty at Gargi College is pretty approachable, which makes it easy to connect with them. The faculty-to-student ratio is decent, so you get good attention in classes. I really liked some professors because they explain things clearly and make discussions lively, while some other professors seemed a bit out of touch with the course material, which was frustrating. The course structure is good, with a mix of theory and some practical work. We have midterms and finals, and while they can be tough, most students manage to pass. Overall, the curriculum is relevant.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
