Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Civil engineering has a very good scope in pubic sector . there are many jobs of assistant engineers, junior engineers and much more for civil engineering graduates through various exams like GATE, UPSC ESE, SSC JE , RRB JE , BPSC AE. The curriculum is very well designed for real world application. We are taught to use CAD softwares as well as drawing using hands . The curriculum is similar to all competitive exams held for civil engineers. Industrial visit and field wok is very less in current curriculum which should be changed and field visit should be done for practical knowledge. End semester Exams are held at every 6 months. The questions are very unpredictable as well as the marking done by University is also very unpredictable.

Placement Experience

2

Very average placement. The average package is approx 5lpa . Civil and mechanical Student generally don't go for placement. Most jobs are regarding sales so most student don't opt for placement. Civil and mechanical students generally prepare for government job and GATE exam. Most students of CSE,ECE and electrical opt for placement and approx 30% get placement. I'm a civil engineering student so I'm preparing for GATE exam.

Fees and Financial Aid

Examination Fee- ?3700/semester Readmission fee:?3000/year Hostel fee:- ?9000/year Mess fee :?28000/year Post Metric Scholarship is available for SC/ST/OBC students:- ?12000-14000/year Student credit card:- upto 4 lakh

Campus Life

3

I'm a day scholar so can't say much about campus life. Technoriti is the annual tech fest and Umang is cultural fest. Enough books are available in library. There is sitting area in library where we can study. Classrooms is civil engineering are very old fashioned. No technology involved. The campus got am indoor stadium, volleyball ground, cricket ground so we can play sport. ESROS club of robotics and campus TV radio are active clubs. The college has got a NCC unit.

Admission

I chose this college due to following reasons:- Proximity to my house. Reputation of the college. Location of the college. Lush green campus. I wanted to get admission in civil engineering course and I got that in first round sonI didn't apply for other colleges. I had taken WBJEE and got an average rank so I didn't considered private colleges of West Bengal. To get admission , appear in JEE main exam and counseling is done by BCECE on their portal.

Faculty

2.5

There are mostly permanent assistant professors recruited by BPSC. The number of professors in civil department is approximately nine. The faculty to student ratio is around 1:40 . Faculties are not supportive at all. They try their best to create problems for students. By giving average marks in mid semester exams and in assignments. Some of the liked faculties of Civil department are Rajkishor sir, Bikash Sah, Subodh Kumar Suman sir, Prabhakar sir, Anshulee patel ma'am because they always support students and always ready to solve their problems. There will be two exam in a semester. Mid semester and end semester. Generally teachers will give questions in mid semester from their notes only and previous year mid sem Questions. But End semester exam is a real headache. The questions are very unpredictable they may be very easy to extremely difficult. Also the marking done by University is very very unpredictable.

Interview Experience

4

The admissions in UG courses are first done through JEE Main rank then vacant seats are filled through BCECE exam. BCECEB releases UGEAC rank based on JEE Main rank then that rank is used throughout the counselling process. I've taken admission through JEE Main and it's better as all seats of old colleges get filled before counselling through BCECE marks. There is no Group discussion or interview. Just focus on maximizing JEE Main marks.

From 7th semester students are eligible to seat and apply for campus placements . Eligiblity criteria depends on companies but if you have 7 CGPA ir more than that then you don't need to worry . Companies like Godrej, ACC,CDAC, BHEL, Infosys, WIPRO ,TCS etc. visited our college for campus placements. Highest package from our college is around 13 Lakh Per Annum and average placement is 3 to 4 Lakh Per Annum Its totally depends upon companies and their job profiles. There are almost 60 to 70 percentage student got placement ( In upper branches like CSE& AI percentage is slightly high otherwise it is quite low for civil and our branches) My plans after getting a degree that is I have to go for M.Tech from any IITs of India I am preparing hard for that.

From 6th semster you are eligible to sit in campus placement . There is companies like Infosys , TCS , De Walls Ads , Wipro, Congnizent, ACC visited our college for campus placements . They have limited offers with limited packages also they have some eligiblity criterias like students should have CGPA above than 7.5 . Highest package offered in our college is 13 LPA per annum by TCS for a CSE student and Average package is around 3.5 to 4 lakh per annum. There is highest placements in branches like CSE ,EEE andCIVIL. Other branches got less offeres. Totally 50 to 60 percentage students got placements from our college because majority lower branch students are preparing for government exams like SSC , UPSC, BPSC , DAROGA and GATE. My plans after getting the degree to go for highes studies (M.TECH) .

From 6th semester students become eligible for campus placements. There is companies like Wipro , Infosys, ACC, Copegimini, Congnizent, TCS visited our college for campus placements. There is very less number of offers given by companies and also there is almost negligible offers for Lower branches(like Mechanical and Civil) . There is highest 12.4 lakh per annum for a CSE student given by TCS and average salary of 4 LPA . There is only 50 to 60 percent students got placements in which majority are from CSE , CSE-AI , and EEE branches. My plans after getting the degree is doing M.tech from any reputed Colleges of India like some NITs or IITs depending to my Gate Score.
