Course Curriculum Overview

3

Our curriculum was subtle and easy to understand, also teachers were really professionals in what they do. They have unique ways to teach you by doing those chapters in practical cuz we know it was much more easier to understand than those boring readings ????. If we compare it with real world applications then I'll say it wasn't that practical some of those chapters and their information was old and not in trend, we were getting examples of mughal e azam, mera naam joker in the time of Bahubali and all those modern masterpiece. I guess they need to update the information in those textbooks to make it relevant to the new gen kids. Also they should redesign the textbook's art and cover because in current state they look like books from 80s. Our exams and their timing is perfect, i don't have any complaints about the difficulty level or the location or timing of it. It can be a little easier but then it won't be a challenge for anyone and almost all of us will clear the exam. I have given like 15-18 exams and oh boy it was fun to do them although i didn't score that much ????

Internships Opportunities

5

As i mentioned before i didn't opt for any placement in college because i had to do further studies and it was hard to manage work and study together. I wasn't going to post graduate but i was and right now am in educational field.

Placement Experience

5

In my batch, after the completion of 3 years you could go for post graduate courses or opt for placements which were most of the time in colleges or other educational institutions. I remember the least package was like 8 lpa and highest was 40 lpa or something. I never opted for placements because i had other plans in further studies but have heard from others that students are getting placed in good institutions as teachers or other faculty member with really good packages like 6 lpa or 8 lpa as freshers salary.

Fees and Financial Aid

Here fees structure is pretty Simple 1st you need to pay an admission fees which will vary based on course like 5k - 35k, next we have tuition fees which will be approx. 70k to 80k per Year (it’s for B.A. cuz i was in B.A.), Hostel fees can be anywhere between 40k to 2.8 Lakhs/Yr depending on the location and availability. My house was close to college so all i had to do was pay the Auto fair ????. There was another 50k to 60k for college development, for sports equipments, mess, medical insurance, etc. CSo approx. Fees can be anywhere between 1.7 lakhs to 5.5 lakhs as per your choices. Our college has a really big open space for park, playground, festive stuffs and other student interactions during breaks ???? or when we are free. College got a good cafeteria where you will get all the common stuffs like Samosa, sandwich, patties, pastries, etc. Sometimes they even put chole bhature or rolls on menu ???? but that's occasional. I guess we also have reservations for Sc/St/obc, where you will pay around 20% to 30% less fees in all fields/courses if you fall under these categories. I had to pay full as I didn't have any Caste certificates and neither do i had time for that ???? College also got this HUGE library for all the courses and it’s always chill due to Air conditioners, sometimes i go there just to sleep when i don't have classes ????. Most of the teachers are friendly here but they are always busy and prefer not to talk during working hours. I almost forgot about scholarships, so we have merit based scholarship where you can avail it if you have scored high in previous years, and if you are interested in that then you can fill the form and attach supporting documents btw you can get the form on the website or from office it's your choice. I think scholarship amount was rs 3000/month for B.A. it can be more for other courses although i don't know much about those courses, so sorry for that ????

Campus Life

4

Our college has a lot of festivals and events include techical ones and also those with just vibe for fun. We had Events like Open Mic Session on Reminiscing the Partition to remember the time of 1947 and try to feel the pain of those families. We had nest making workshop on the day of National science day which was around feb or march. Then we had event for women rights after few months in i gues may or so. We also had this Competition to make the best logo for RnD centre. And this event was during the month of august maybe before independence day. We had a event related to neuroscience where students of IISC held a webinar to educate others about how brain works and why neuroscience is important to understand a lot of brain functions, they were also giving certificates for completion. We also had a lot of events but i don't remember most of them ???? We have big grounds in college where you can play badminton, hockey, cricket and tennis. We also held annual sports competition with prizes upto 1 laks rupees. We also had groups and clubs for people with different insterests like poetry, arts, machines and computer languages, sports clubs, sleeping club, no one knows why this club was there but it had lots of members ???? so faculty didn't close it. Honestly all these clubs were a great way to recharge yourself and also show your creativity to others. Our college also held fest around Oct - Nov where we had to make unique machines or other useful invention for example, device to reduce smoke in cars or safety trackers and so on.

Admission

No i didn't apply for other colleges although i wanted to but i was already late for registration and didn't want to get rejected from other college and then also miss the deadline for hans raj too. I was aiming for kirori mal college but at the last moment i chose hansraj because my friend was also choosing the same one ????

Faculty

5

So most of the faculty is friendly and honestly i don't remember much about them right now but 2 of the teachers were my favorite there cuz they are always ready to answer your questions, they were Reema ma'am and mishra sir (i don't know complete name because we have always addressed him as Mishra sir ???? Reema ma'am were our English teacher and was a pacifist, she was always calm even in worst of the situations and Mishra sir were kinda calm but sometimes we have seen him angry and believe me you don't wanna see him like that. I never liked Kundan sir who used to teacher maths although he wasn't our maths teacher but still he always used say stuff like, "Arts is not even a course, it’s too easy and some of you guys still fail" I'm happy he is not in faculty anymore????. When i was in college we had total 3 exams, 1 exam at the end of each year but now you have 2 exams each year, so 6 exams in total. I prefer current structure of exam cuz now you don't need to memorise the whole book every year. HereCourse curriculum is easy to understand and they i think change it every 5 or 10 years, so you can't pass on your books to other students sadly but no prob, here books are also quite affordable. You can also get subsidized books if you are under Sc/St/Obc. Every year around 25% of my classmates used fail the exam which was decreasing every year, maybe reels were the reason nowadays for this issue ????

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
