Fees and Financial Aid

My college is Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi University. I am from English Honours Department and I am a 1st year student. I got into this college through Commom University Entrance Test (CUET), 2024. The fee structure of this college varies from one another according to the courses the student applied for. As I am a student from scheduled caste category I I paid 20490 for a year but for other courses its from 20000-31000 approximately. The exam fee is from 1100-1500 including practical exams. Scholarships are awarded to students who meet certain criteria of academic merit.

Campus Life

The annual festival of Lady Shri Ram College for Women is known as Tarang. It is a cultural event where students wears ethnic attires and it is celebrated for 3 days. There are a lots of events like dance competition, drama competition, singing competition, and many more. Students of our college even open goods stalls where we can buy them at reasonable prices. The most eventful thing of Tarang is the DJ night which happens on all three nights. On this annual fest even students from other colleges of Delhi University can come and join the event and so you can invite your friends to your amazing college on this days. It happens on February-March every year. There is also an event known as Noor in my college. It is celebtrated for only 1 days . It usually happens before diwali festival holidays of the college. This also one of the greatest festival that occurs in our college where you get to know more of your seniors, collegue and so on. Apart from this, we also have department fest in the month of April every year. The classroom of our colleges are well-equipped with fans, projectors, modern types of desk and bences. The college offers various types of sports like basketball, tennis, badminton, shooting, chess, etc to us. The students are guided and trained by well-trained teachers from their respective sports. There arealso a lots of societies in the college and you can join them if you want but it is not at all necessary. By joining them you'll have more exposure to what the societies are doing but also you have to dedicate your time for this and as our college is academic centric you sometime faced academic pressures so i recommend you to join only 2-3 societies at max.

Admission

Lady Shri Ram College for Women is my first preference college as i always had a dream of studing in this college since my childhood. I wanted to experience how it feels to be studing in a women's college. As for humanities courses, my college offers a great faculty with excellent professors. It is in the 10th ranked in NIRK ranking, 2024. In order to get into any Delhi University colleges you have to passed the Common University Entrance Test(CUET) with high marks. The cut-off mark of this college is very high as compared to other colleges of DU. The cut-off mark varies from one course to another. For CSAS 1st round the cut-off is around 780-796 out of 800 for top courses like Political Science, English, History, Economics, etc.

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
