Course Curriculum Overview

2

1. Does not require learning facts. Just be thorough with the story line and you are done. Hence, easy to score 2. English just teaches philosophies. Philosphies you can apply in any point of your life. It broadens your mind on various aspects of life. 3. Assignments should be subjective. Students shoule be allowed to find their own ways to present. 4. The exams take place twice in a year- once in January, once in July. The usual timings for them is 9:30 am. Difficulty depends on whether you perceive it as a difficulty or not. You should just know to frame the answers and trick the examiner.

Internships Opportunities

2

I have never been interested in internships and placements as I am aiming for competitive exams after my graduation. Corporate does not fascinate me. Check out the following instagram page for details. @pcell_lsr

Placement Experience

1

1. I have no idea regarding the placements. However I do know there is a whole society called "placement cell" in my college. You can check their instagram handle for more information i.e. @pcell_lsr 2. The reason for my lack of knowledge regarding the placement is that corporate doesn't fascinate me. And I am here just for my graduation so that I become eligible for Combined Defence Services exam.

Fees and Financial Aid

This is a second year student (still an undergraduate and completing the course). Hence I will be able to provide limited information. 1. First year: around 19,000 Second year: around 17,000 2. There are no separate fee for any registration etc. Everything is included in the yearly fee. 3. No idea 4. There are 2 categories of them - scholarship (based on academic excellence) & freeship (based on category and yearly income of the guardian). I received Rs.12,000 in the first year.

Campus Life

5

1. There are 2 major annual fests held in my college - NOOR, TARANG. Noor is basically a Diwali Mela held by National Service Scheme. And Tarang is 3 days fest from morning to night. Several artists are called on all 3 days to perform. Apart from these, each department also organises their respective fests. 2. The library has a very calm and pin drop silence environment with a huge and vast variety of books of each department - be it Hindi, English, Pol science, Philosophy or Sanskrit etc. 3. There are 2 buildings - Old & New. The New building has spacious classrooms with a glass wall separating the classroom from the balcony. Whereas the old building has a tut block in which the tutorial classes are held and the rooms are usually small since they are not fot the entire class but for a small proportion of class with 7-8 students. 4. Extracurricular activity (ECA) is mandatory for each course students as you would not get your degree without it. There are 3 ECAs in my college - (i) NCC - National Cadet Corps https://lsr.edu.in/students/ncc/ (ii) NSO - National Sports Organization https://lsr.edu.in/students/nso/ (iii) NSS - National Service Scheme https://lsr.edu.in/students/nss/ Check out the links for more information. You have to select any one of the above and devote atleast 150 hours to it throughout your entire course in order to get your degree for whatever course you are doing. If your admission was done through the sports quota, NSO will be compulsory for you. 5. All the societies are run by students themselves.

Admission

1. I didn't actually have to 'apply'. As per the new system of Delhi University, the candidate is required to attend an entrace exam called Common University Entrance Exam (CUET). Before that, he/she has to submit a preference list of colleges he/she is aiming for (beginning from the most wanted to least). The candidate will be alloted a centre for the exam and it takes place on the computer. Based on the normalised score, he/she will get colleges. For ex, I got LSR in the 1st round itself and I confirmed it instead of waiting for the authority to provide me with any other college. However, if you aren't satisfied with the college you got in the first round, you can ofcouse wait for the next 4 rounds and get the college you want. 2. The same process is for my college as well as it comes under DU. The only eligibility criteria for my course is that the candidate should have studied English in 11th and 12th std. 3. The cutoffs vary. Each year a new cutoff list is released after the conduction of CUET.

Faculty

4

1. 4:8 The faculty here is approachable and helping in nature 2. Dr. Anurag Sharma is the best faculty I have ever come across. He is the assistant professor of physical education and sports sciences (General elective). He doesn't only teach well but also provide life advices and motivation to his students frequently. 3. I don't interact with faculties much in order to start disliking them. 4. There are total 7 exams in one semester- 3 DSC, 1 GE, 1 SEC, 1 AEC, 1 VAC. It is very difficult to fail in DU. Just fill the pages and you'll pass.

Other Applied Colleges

Hindu College | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Political Science)

Got LSR in the first round itself. Didn't want to waste any time as it is prestigious too.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
