Course Curriculum Overview

3

Honestly , majors in history isn't very practical as we barely get practical knowledge however I choose this course for majorly three reasons. 1 to prepare for further government exams, 2 I liked studying history, 3 It enhances analytical thinking and analysing skills. The curriculum is good however the teachers fail to make it more interesting for the students. I believe more pratical knowledge should be included like research in field of archaeology and sight seeing which makes the course engaging and gives students visual knowledge

Internships Opportunities

4

Delloite , bajaj capital , tech for india , internshala ,edcofa etc offer internships for students which range from 5000 to 50000. The highest internship stripend was 50000 and the average is 5000 - 8000. Makerting , desk job etc are supposed to be done by people doing internships

Placement Experience

2

From 5th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Deloite , airtel, zomato, bajaj , kpmg, ey, accenture etc. Companies recruit students for jobs and internships. 60 percent of students in maitreyi college are placed. The highest package might range from 100000 to 1500000 and average package ranges from 4 to 8 lakhs. After my degree i plan to give government exam's like HAS etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

I in total pay fees from Rs12000 to Rs13000 which includes university student welfare fund of Rs 250, University development fund of Rs1200, facility and service charges 1250, section support fund 200, total tution fee of 3080, college student welfare fund 3994 , college development fund 4018, college facilities and service charges 1763, total B 9955 therefore in all i paid 12855only. Apart from this the college provides internships and scholarships for underprivilege in which any student whose parents earn less than 8lakh per year can apply for the scholarship.

Campus Life

4

The annual fest Rhapsody is held every year in between march and april. Apart from it frequent cultural events and department fests are held throughout the year. There are various societies which have there fests and events. There are societies for dance , singing , placement, marketing, photography, filmmaking, fashion , poetry, gardening etc. The ngo cum society NSS is run by the students and funded by the college. The library is well equipped with books and computers and the classroom have projectors. The college offers good infrastructure and opportunities. The only problem is there are non ac's in the classroom and it is difficult for students to sit in them in them and attend classes during the summers.

Admission

I applied to BHU and other colleges in delhi University like St. Stephens , Ramjas College , Gargi College etc. I got admission in BHU but i chose to come to this college because the distance is not too inconvenient from my home town , the college is situated in a posh and safe locality and girls college gives a sense of security especially in delhi. I didn't get admission in st. Stephens and miranda house cause of the high cut off. I got admission in gargi in second round of csas however i was comfortable in maitreyi college. The admission process is relatively smooth, the admission is based on the percentile or cuet score.

Faculty

3

The faculty ratio is maintained in the college. In case of big batches the batch is divided into sections . Most of the faculty members are supportive and approachble. The faculty members of english and political science department are extremely supportive and helpful . Manisha Saluja ma'am from English department is very helpful, Priyanka Nirupama ma'am from history department as well. I don't engage with a lot of departments to I don't know about others however most of the faculty members are sweet. There are 7 exams in total out of which 3 are dsc , 1 ge (minor) , 1 vac , 1 sec , and 1 aec. Dsc and ge exams are majorly very important and are fairly difficult . Vac , sec and aec exams are relatively easier. Most of the students pass the exams .

Night Life

4

There are cafes near the college like digging and cafe de flora. Also the campus area is pretty much safe as it's situated in an diplomatic area near embassies, however i wouldn't suggest roaming at night cause it is relativity vacant. Satya niketan where most of the students stay is safer as it always in crowed and has various restaurants and hubs.

Other Applied Colleges

Banaras Hindu University - [BHU] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Political Science)

Banaras was too far away from my hometown and apart from it an all girls college gave more sense of security.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
