Course Curriculum Overview

4

Since History was a subject of my interest so I opted for it and pursuing History Hons. The curriculum of my course is well built. It enforces us to connect what we learn with the current scenarios. We also go for visits to historical sites which is very fascinating as there's a lot of difference in just reading what's written in the books and going to that actual site to have a real experience of it. The exams for GE and DSC are of 3 hours while that of optional subject like VAC,SEC and AEC is of 1 hour.

Placement Experience

4

Students become eligible for placements in there final year or sixth semester. A lot of big companies visit the college for placements. The Economics Hons department and Bcom Hons department get the highest placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is paid annually which, corthe first years was around 20,000. No registration fees was paid. College is great as it provides few freeships and scholarships to those who are academically excellent and belong to economically weaker sections. This is really a great initiative. Those who also score highest marks at the end of a year are also provided with scholarships.

Campus Life

4

The college conducts great fests. TARANG, being our annual fest which is of 3 days and is held in March. It is a great fest with other colleges coming here for various competitions, Great speakers come to grace our fest and a lot of competitions being held in different corners of the college is a whole unmatched vibe. Apart from this, Annual NCC fest, Veerangna is also conducted. Noor, the fest of NSS LSR is also great.

Admission

LSR only was at my first preference. The other colleges that I applied for were Miranda House, Hindu College, Gargi,Sri Venkateswara, Indraprastha University, Daulat Ram College, Jesus and Mary College, Kamla Nehru College etc. Since LSR was my first preference and I got it, so I didn't face rejection from any college. The procedure to get into here is very simple. You just need to give CUET exam which is central University Entrance Test. Make sure that you apply for DU in the CUET preference list and appear for all those exams that you had in your class 12 and GT isn't necessary for DU.Then the results are announced. After this, DU will open the preference sheet, where you would enter your college and course preferences according to the order most suitable to you, remember to not to keep results andykur marks as the most important criteria while making the preference sheet. After this, DU releases the college you've been allocated and also the cut off. If you're satisfied with your college and course, freeze your seat,if not , opt for upgrade. If the seats are available the colleges you mentioned above to the one you've been allocated, you will get the seat there, If not you'll have to continue with the one you received.

Faculty

4

There around 60 to 70 students in each section. The faculty is excellent, they are very qualified and highly educated. They know how to deal especially with the first years and try to make them feel comfortable during the initial days of their college. Some professors though are not efficient in speaking Hindi so sometimes it becomes quite difficult for the Hindi medium students to grasp the context and what they are teaching but still the professors try every way possible to make them understand which is really impressive. History department has excellent faculty. There are just semester exams at the end of each semester and no mid sem exams. Though small tests are conducted by the course professors themselves for the Internal Assessment. The xmexams are not much difficult. With consistent study they can be passed out clearly. DU hardly fails any student.

Interview Experience

4

No written test other than CUET was held for the admission process. It is just that you give CUET and based on the marks that you've scored and cut off of the college and course you've putten aa your preferences, you will be allocated the college. This is the admission process for all the colleges of DU.

Night Life

4

The canteen , known as Cafè and the Nescafe are usually closed down around 6 pm. Gym is in the ground so as the college closes down at 7, even the gym is closed down. Library and Reference cell, which is also a peaceful study space, both are closed at 7pm. The hostel is closed since past 2 years or so due to some renovation work being happening there.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
