Course Curriculum Overview

4

Economics Honours is one of the top courses people opt for at the University of Delhi, and it does provide great returns. After getting this degree, you can work in banking and finance, government jobs, as a research analyst, a data analyst, etc, or you can go for a Master's in Economics or an MBA. I feel that the curriculum can be made a little more practical, though, if you keep learning some skills side by side, gain relevant experience through internships, you can get placed.

Internships Opportunities

3

Internship opportunities are regularly floated by the placement cell, JEET. Two students were selected for a summer internship with Deloitte. Regular events are conducted to help improve CVs and to know about higher education opportunities, placement preparation, etc.

Placement Experience

4

The placement cell of our college is active. Internship opportunities are floated regularly. The highest package was 24.3 LPA, and the average package was 6.27 LPA for the session 2024-25. The job profiles offered are in finance, sales and marketing, audit, tech, etc. The highest number of opportunities offered is to the students of B.Com (H), Economics Hons. and B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Science.

Fees and Financial Aid

As a first-year student from the general category, I had to pay Rs. 29725 for a year, which is a bit high compared to other Delhi University colleges, as their fees is usually around seventeen to eighteen thousand. Students from the economically weaker sections are eligible to apply for the fee concessions, and Merit cum Means-based scholarships are provided to the students who are deserving. We have to fill out an examination form, where a minimal fee ranging from Rs.500 to Rs.1000 is charged. Overall, I will say that the course is affordable.

Campus Life

4

The annual fest of our college is called SHRUTI FEST, which usually takes place in February or March. We have a two-storey library which is very resourceful as you can find books on all subjects. We also have a lot of record journals dating back to the 1960s in the museum and archives section. Network connectivity is very poor, though we do have wifi, which works only in a few places. The classrooms do have projectors. Since I have joined some or the other event, has been happening every week.

Admission

To get admission in IPCW, which is a part of Delhi University, you need to give the CUET UG exam, which is conducted by NTA. Maths is a compulsory subject to get economics honours at any college of Delhi University. Apart from that, you need to appear in one language and two other domain subjects in CUET. The scores are calculated out of 1000, as each paper is of 250 marks. The second round cut-off score for IPCW Eco. Hons. for the general category was 785/1000.

Faculty

4

The faculty is very good at teaching and is approachable (one or two exceptions are everywhere). They will clear your doubts, and you will be able to understand the concepts well. At times, you will feel like the syllabus is being rushed, but that is because the syllabus is vast and the time is very less. We have end-of-semester exams in November-December for odd semesters and May for even semesters, 90 marks for theory, and 70 marks for the Internal Assessment for the discipline-specific core (DSC).

Night Life

3

We have a gym area and a swimming pool, which unfortunately, are not open. We have Nescafe, Amul and one other cafeteria. If you want to relax, you can eat at Tom uncle's Maggi point, Sudama Tea Stall, or go to Kamla Nagar market, where you can find some good cafes along with the street food. You can even find shops to purchase clothes, jewellery, etc. You can use the metro to explore various parts of Delhi with your friends very conveniently.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
