What is UCAS and Equal Consideration?
UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) is the official platform for applying to undergraduate courses in the UK. Students can apply to multiple universities through a single application, making the process simple and centralised. It also allows students to track their application status and offers in one place.
Equal consideration means that if you apply before the UCAS deadline, your application will be given equal priority by universities, regardless of when you submitted it within that period. This ensures fair evaluation, as universities review all applications received within the deadline together before making decisions.
University of East Anglia Admission Decision
The University of East Anglia (UEA) reviews applications carefully before making an admission decision. After all required documents are submitted, the university evaluates the student’s academic performance, English language scores, and overall profile.
Students usually receive either a conditional offer (subject to meeting certain requirements) or an unconditional offer (if all requirements are already met). In some cases, applications may also be rejected if the eligibility criteria are not satisfied.
The admission decision typically takes around 2 - 6 weeks, depending on the course and application volume. Students are advised to regularly check their application portal or email for updates and further instructions.

Indian students need to apply for a UK Student Visa after receiving their CAS from a university. The requirements include a valid passport, academic documents, English test scores (like IELTS), and a TB test certificate. Students must also show proof of funds covering tuition fees and living expenses.
The visa application fee is GBP 524 (INR 66,013), and the Immigration Health Surcharge is GBP 776 per year (INR 97,639). The TB test costs around GBP 65 (INR 8,181). Students must show living expenses of GBP 1,171 per month (1.47 Lakhs) for up to 9 months.
The visa usually takes around 3 weeks to process after biometrics. Overall, the total visa-related cost is about GBP 1365 (INR 1.71 Lakhs) for one year, excluding tuition fees.

Dislikes
- The location of the university is quite isolated. It is 30 minutes on a bus ride. It might not be the thing for many students as you will miss out on city life, clubbing and partying.
- Construction on the university site is never ending. There is always something being constructed and it sometimes kills the spirit to see the machines and cranes in the university.
- UEA has its own supermarket inside but the prices on each good is too high. Its like exploitation of student budget indirectly.
Scholarship
- There are many merit based scholarships for my course. The scholarship i got was called india award and it was worth 5000 pounds. it was given to me because I had more than 75% in my bachelors degree.
- This scholarship is given to all successful indian students. UEA is pretty chill about fee as it makes all arrangements for you so that you can afford to pay for education.
