The University of Sheffield is known for its strong academic reputation in fields such as engineering, business, computer science, and health sciences. The university primarily offers admission in the September intake (main intake), while a limited number of postgraduate programs may be available in the February intake. The deadline for the September 2026 are:
- 30th June 2026 (UCAS final deadline) for undergraduate courses, and
- 4 September 2026 for postgraduate courses.
The University of Sheffield does not officially publish an acceptance rate, but third-party sources estimate it at around 85%. Students with a strong academic background and a well-prepared application have a good chance of securing admission.
For undergraduate programs, students should have a minimum of 75% in Class 12 and must apply through the UCAS portal. For postgraduate programs, applicants need around 55-60% in their bachelor’s degree from a recognised university and can apply directly through the university’s official website.
After receiving an offer letter, students are required to accept the offer and may need to pay a tuition fee deposit to confirm their place. Once the admission is confirmed, the university issues a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies), which is required for applying for a UK Student Visa. After visa approval, students can proceed with accommodation booking and travel arrangements before starting their studies at the University of Sheffield.
Note: £ 1 = INR 124.02 is the exchange rate used for all currency conversions in this article as of 9th April 2026.

- Management for computer science is really good, when i face any problem, they solve that same day also if i have other problems like in visa or other related things then they have student union where they support the student and give us resolution.
- The university also provide us support in Healthcare, they have dedicated UHS (university health service) they have tied up with NHS and we get appointment on the same day and also it's really good for students.
- They have all the equipments me for students if they want camera, mic, laptops, computers to use, they gave us for free in rent for few days.
Dislikes
- The building is far away, like if I have one class from 12 PM to 2 PM in The Diamond building then they give another class from 2 PM to 4 PM at another building like The Regent Court building which is 10 minutes walk from that building.
Scholarship
- There were two scholarship options I had at the time of application, the first was a scholarship of 2,500 pounds for every student, and the second was 5,000 pounds for only specific students whose profile is good. I got that scholarship because my profile was good as per their admission requirements.
- That 5,000 scholarship is for 2000 students only, as per my knowledge.

- The quality of teaching of some of the professors was top notch. I was quite lucky with a few of them.
- Our campus and the facilities provided to us were actually very nice. We had 2 libraries- The diamond and the information commons which were open 24x7 to support us.
- I think I made friends with students of many different countries. The people in our college were really diverse and came from different different countries which I never thought I would make friends from.
Dislikes
- The complaint I had with my course was it somehow lacked industry exposure and practical knowledge which would have made me understand things better. A lot of it focused on theory.
- Rising cost of living expenses in the UK. It still was used to be better when I was there but recently prices of accomodations and grocery stores have shot up massively.
- The weather could be a bummer for alot of people. Here in Sheffield, it rains almost everyday maybe and the weather is always gloomy. I was okay with it at one point but it used to bother a lot to my friends.
Scholarship
- I don’t know about any general scholarships, but for our course, I used a £2000 scholarship just for simply accepting the offer letter earlier than the stated date. I think that was just to encourage us to pick out this college, and a lot of my friends got into this one. Also, if you do really well in your exams, your tuition fees for the next year will be reduced by half. ( Undergraduate course)

- The University of Sheffield is a very reputable university and part of the Russel Group, which consists of elite UK universities. It has a very strong alumni network globally.
- Most professors are very highly qualified & knowledgeable.
- There is a lot of support available for students from professors, Teaching Assistants, Personal tutors & student services/students' union. Sheffield SU has been voted the best SU in the UK for many years now.
Dislikes
- There is not a lot of support for International students from career service. Most of their support is limited to tailoring your resume & cover letter which is helpful for graduates. However, for students with prior work experience or International students there should be focused support especially with the challenges of getting skilled worker visa.
- A lot of modules are taught in a year. Hence, teaching can feel a bit rushed. The onus is on you to study regularly & attend your lectures to be in a good position.
- For my course of Information Systems, there should have been more electives from Computer Science department. As a Software Engineer I would have loved that.
Scholarship
- Yes, I got a £2000 scholarship. It was based on my application, my results & experience.
- There is a UK merit scholarship from the University for very meritorious students, in addition to different scholarships which are funded by individuals or organisations. You can get a 25-50% scholarship. The criteria vary from one scholarship to another. Generally, they require a strong academic background. A good volunteering or sports background would be helpful.
- Some of my batchmates got a scholarship. However, getting a UK merit scholarship is very competitive.
