It offers a great placement after the course completion, companies like microsoft, amazon google, flipkart and other companies like goldman sachs come to recruit new freshers in their companies and even offer internships as well.
The fests conducted in our college are worth enjoying and marvelous talent is encouraged.
No fees hike policy.cost to study is a bit high for a government organisation but it's worth it.scholarship opportunities financial assistance and job opportunities are very satisfactory over here.

Dislikes

The scholarship availability should not be below 5 lakh.. it should be a larger number beacuse 5 lakh income is lower income than a lower middle class family.
The faculty advisor is a very rude and strict person who doesn't understand the student's problems.
Placements for lower branches are not that good and being a remote area more companies are not coming to college

the placement scenerio of nit rourkela is very good and it seems to be fulfil our dream job
the research opportunity is very good our alumini network is good

Dislikes

the mess food is not justified with prize range
the connectivity with air is not good no flight for delhi ,banglore ,mumbai

placement is good in nit rourkela .nearly 99% of the student applied in on campus placement they get a good paying job,nearly every student get a job of rupee 12 lakh and highest package is 54lakh ab company amazon webservice

NIT Rourkela -( an honest review from its undergrad)

Likes

I liked the beauty and maintenance of the campus.
Mess food is really very good here and also there are night canteens in hostels.
Restaurants in the campus,sports facilities.

Dislikes

Campus is not in Fully urban area and railway station in 7 km away
Fests are not upto the mark as expected in a top NIT

Placement Experience:

Placements in our college is decent. Students become eligible for campus placements in 4th year. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Accenture, amazon, Accenture,TCS,Wipro ,TATA etc... visit and make 50-60 offers 90% students get placed . My plan after getting degree is getting a job and preparing for UPSC

NITR is ranked by 16th by NIRF 2023 under the engineering category .
NITR is one of the premier national level institutions for technology in the country .
Research in Nit Rourkela is one of the best thing .

Dislikes

I do not like attendance criteria which is minimum 85 %.
Some professor is very serious and does not give good TA marks .
Academic pressure is also a problem for a student .

Placement Experience:

Approx more than 90 % students are placed in NITR .from 7th semester students become eligible for campous placement .There are many companies that are visited in NITR like flipkart ,Amazon ,Google ,Microsoft ,Imfosis , Tata , Vedanta ,Nalko etc . Highest packege in my brach is 18 LPA and minimus is 5 LPA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Some of the course feels like out dated and some course are useless and baseless but from 2nd year onwards course become related and you will enjoy studing.It completely depends on professor how they teach the course

A brief review of nit rourkela

Likes

The college campus is very huge and green.
The roads are surrounded by trees and greenery is everywhere.
Every department has a unique building design.

Dislikes

The attendance criteria is very strict .
In internet you will see internet criteria is 85% but in reality it is above that.
Some professors do not teach upto the mark and make it very boring class.

Placement Experience:

Placements are good and in all the branches almost everyone gets placed and infact some branches there is 100 percent placement and many companies visit this college for placements however if someone is looking for PSUs those companies only accept through gate

Not so great experience with NIT Rourkela, there's so much to speak about but letting you know in brief

Likes

The campus is good and Greenery is there
Hostel are decent and the occupancy is not more than 2 person
Many clubs are there for your overall development

Dislikes

Things I disliked was the attendance scenario, in online reviews you'll see that the attendance percentage is 85% but in reality it's actually 87.5-90% which is just too much and infact you'll be hearing that in orientation
Resources are not that much the quantity of the required machines is not up to the mark for almost all the departments, for each group there will be only one machine and you'll have to wait a lot for your turn
Academic pressure is actually too much and i have heard this from almost everyone, you don't get leave easily even if you're too much sick, mostly professors are not good and not supportive and understanding

Course is decent however the course of nit rourkela is more harder than the courses of other nits i mean the exams are more harder than other colleges, other than that there are some extra elective courses regardless of any all the branches which can be helpful to increase the gpa and talking about the Mining department, the quantity of machine's are very less and the professors are mostly not good

NITR A Honest experience.

Likes

The freedom that we get in the campus helps us to explore a lot.
chilling and vibing spots in the college like naga pond, golden jubilee etc.
Quality of education provided by the teachers.

Dislikes

Food especially SD mess food is really worse here.
Weather especially during summer season .
Management like SAC are mostly zone oriented.

Placement Experience:

From 7 semester students are eligible to sit for the campus placements .Many companies visit the college for on campus placements including Google, Micorsoft, Accenture etc.This year around 700 offers were given by around 250 companies.My plan is to get a decent salary job.

Pure Veg Mess Facility: Being a pure vegetarian, i am proud to have pure veg food without onion garlic here at NITR.
Rich and Divergent campus life: NITR provides a very rich campus life filled with a lots of fun
College fest: College fests and celebrity nights are one of the golden period in the campus.

Dislikes

High Attendance policy: Our institute follows a 85% attendance policy per semester, which is very rigid to follow.
Shortage of hostel rooms for girls: There is shortage of rooms for girls. There are 7 boys hostels for undergrad students and only 2 girls hostels

Course Curriculum Overview:

Biomedical engineering is a highly emerging field after the recent outburst of covid virus recently. Our curriculum prepares us for the industry-level standards by performing labs and demonstrations on industry-level equipment like ECG, EMG, Electron Microscope, Atomic force microscope, EEG ( brain signal reading ), etc. The teaching method of the professors is very great. Our curriculum is a little outdated and it also needs to consider the advancement the recent technologies like the use of AI and new machine learning algorithms in the biomedical field. There are 2 major exams each semester. One is the mid-semester exam and the other is the end-semester exam. Apart from these, there can be various other class tests and assignments which is completely based on professor-to-professor.

The greenery of the campus which is containing a vast species of flora and fauna
The gender ratio where girls are relatively high in number in comparision to other prominent institutes
Beauty of both academics and hariyali of women inside the campus and vast number of make out spots in the campus

Dislikes

Hygiene in hostel mess food and frequent water issues in the hostel during bathing

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are availabale on campus via interviews which are very limited to highly performing students diring the selection process. Required cgpa is 8.5 to get a decent job opportunity and get forward in the college life properly with a high package

I am a first year undergraduate. I am right now not eligible for the internship. The intership starts at 2nd year and requires you to be skillful realted to coding, management or research field. These internships help further in placements.

A friend at NIT Rourkela gave me a detailed review of her college the last time she visited me. Here are some highlights from her descriptive experience

NIT Rourkela has a huge, serene, and well-secured campus.
The institute has diverse clubs that promote extracurricular activities and their performance is better than most clubs of other engineering colleges.
Decent Internet speed is offered and the Dc++ is well maintained.
The hostels are well-maintained and decked with all the basic amenities one could ask for.
Students are actively involved in sports such as gymming and swimming.
The faculties are a mixed bag. Some are underqualified and lethargic while some motivate you to become a better person.
The institute boasts of an extensive entrepreneurship culture.
The institute needs to work on increasing its alumni base and the level of fests it organizes given the huge income the institute generates.
The placement scenario varies from branch to branch. It's decent for branches like CS while pathetic for others.
Rourkela does not have any places to explore and also lacks flight connectivity.
The city of Rourkela is one of the cleanest places so hygiene is not an issue here.
