Delhi University: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 7 Reviews

The college offers a supportive learning environment with a favorable faculty-to-student ratio of 1:25, allowing for active classroom interactions. With over 50 qualified faculty members, the institution serves around 600 students, particularly excelling in computer science and engineering fields like data science. Tuition fees vary by category: OBC students pay INR 66,680 annually due to a 50% government scholarship, and OPEN category students pay around INR 1.27 lakhs. The total annual fee is INR 216,000, covering tuition, caution, registration, admission, development, and lab fees.

Students from families earning less than INR 400,000 annually can receive a 50% fee concession, while those earning under INR 800,000 may get a 90% concession. Additionally, a merit-cum-need scholarship offers INR 4,000 to eligible students. Internship opportunities are promising, with notable participation from companies like IIT Bombay. The active placement cell engages students from the third semester, emphasizing communication and interpersonal skills. Companies such as Tech Mahindra, TCS, Infoview, Zoho, and Cognizant offer placements with packages up to INR 6 lakh.

However, internship stipends are considered low by some, affecting participation. Despite the college's strengths, it does not offer hostel facilities, requiring students to find nearby accommodation.

Fees and Financial Aid:

Here are the detailed fee structure and scholarship / concession details for the Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi (FoT DU) for its B.Tech programmes, based on publicly available information. Please note that some details (especially batch-wise category-wise exact fees for SC/ST/OBC etc) are not fully disclosed publicly, so there are some gaps. You may need to check the official FoT or DU admission bulletin for full breakdown. --- Fee Structure For Academic Session 2024-25 (First year) From the official FoT notification: Fee Component Amount (?) Tuition Fee 1,12,000 University Student Welfare Fund 18,000 Faculty/Department Student Welfare Fund 10,000 University Development Fund 1,200 University Facilities & Services Charges 20,600 Faculty/Department Facilities & Services Charges 62,000 Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Support – University Fund 200 DUSU Fund 0 Total (First year) approx. ? 2,24,000 Year-wise trend & increasing fees According to a student-review site: For one 4-year B.Tech intake: Year Tuition fee Student Welfare Fund Development Fund University Charges etc Faculty Charges EWS Support Fund Total approx. Year 1 ? 1,12,000 ? 18,000 ? 1,200 ? 20,600 (Univ) ? 62,000 ? 200 ? 2,24,000 Year 2 ? 1,17,600 (?5% up) ? 18,900 ? 1,260 ? 21,630 ? 65,000 ? 210 ~ ? 2,35,200 Year 3 ? 1,23,480 ? 19,845 ? 1,335 ? 22,700 ? 68,355 ? 220 ~ ? 2,46,960 Year 4 ? 1,29,655 ? 20,835 ? 1,400 ? 23,845 ? 71,770 ? 230 ~ ? 2,59,310 Thus, the fees are increasing year-on-year for the same batch -- roughly ~5% or so on many components. Also, broad media reports indicate that for first?year students the total fee was raised by ~3.70% from previous year: from ~?2.16 lakh to ~?2.24 lakh. For Complete Course (4 years) estimate If you join in Year 1 and pay the increasing fees across 4 years (as per the trend above): Approx total = ?2.24 lakh + ?2.35 lakh + ?2.47 lakh + ?2.59 lakh ? ? 9.65 lakh (for the academic fees alone, excluding hostel/PG, mess, other person

The fees is definitely affordable for most and the fee waiver encourages students from weaker financial backgrounds to enroll for admissions.
