This course total cost 30,000 rupees in divide 6 semester in 3 year, this course have lots of scholarship, financial assistance like swami vivekananda merit cum mins scholarship was the best scholarship in west bengal
The campus was beautiful and the professors were friendly and helpful.
Placement services are also good . around 60 percent student get placed

Dislikes

I really disliked how late our semester exam are held. this causes problem for 6th sem students as they can't apply for other places early.
The placement is really not good and many of the students hated internships and jobs for the medical representative designation.
The staff gets rude sometimes and are not helpful ( some of them)

Beyond Books : Life at St. Xaviers

Likes

I liked the campus life, the welcoming faculty, good and hygienic canteen provisions, ambitious and good student crowd that will build ones motivation.
The beautiful and uildings that add to the legacy and overall a great environment

Dislikes

Some local students seem to have an unapproachable attitude and they seem to find it easier and more fun to hang out with their local friends that make outstation students feel distant

Placement Experience:

The students from their 3rd year become eligible for campus placement. Different companies including the Big 4 like Deloitte KPMG etc made offers in 2024-25 and the average package offered in BCOM was 4.5 LPA. I plan on sitting for the placements after i get my degree, that is if im not pursuing my articleship at the time.

Likes

The college campus is huge and beautiful with different blocks like green benches, gymnasium,library and canteen
The faculty members are very knowledgeable and experienced.The Professors use blackboards,ppts during lectures.Group discussion and healthy discussions are also encouraged

Dislikes

Too much of discipline and rules, attendance criteria makes it hectic and exhausting for the students to be in schedule

Why come to St. Xavier's College Kolkata

Likes

The faculty of the English department is really competent and nice.
The college societies especially the ones related to dance and debating are active throughout the year and they provide recreational opportunities.
The campus has people from around the country be it the south or northeast. So you get to talk with and explore different cultures.

Dislikes

The campus can be a bit strict relating the dress code, especially for women.
One is not allowed to loiter in the college. So you can't just sit in an empty classroom even if you aren't making noise.
The administration has layers of rules and protocols for everything which can be frustrating sometimes.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum of the BA in English course is comprehensive as it convers most literary periods and important writers in the English literart canon. There is a paper on content and creative writing as well. However the course can be made more relevant with the current job market in mind.

SXC:- Are NIRF Rankings Speaking the Same Story as the Campus?

The library has all the books I need for study and I do not need to buy books from outside. Moreover, the online resources and journal subscriptions we have are just fantastic for research papers.
There is a lot of exposure with reference to competitions, societies and events. We get enough scope to find our voice in some way or the other.
The professors are absolutely fantastic with regards to approaching their syllabus.

Dislikes

Strict attendance policy (below 75% per class student gets debarred from writing papers)
My day batch has classes from 10:10 to 3 pm or 4 pm on half the days making it really difficult for me to devote time to other activities or attend physical internships
I wish statistics had been included within our economics syllabus a bit earlier than teaching it from second year onwards full fledgedly. I believe computer softwares relating to data analysis should be a part of our course in each semester.

Placement Experience:

We have a placement cell helping students get placed. They keep posting opportunities like internships and fellowships throughout the year to groom students and give them exposure and experience. Placements can go to very high packages like those in Data Science, Big 4 consulting or core finance or banking jobs. CAs, CFAs and FRMs do well in the placements. The highest packages could surpass 12-13 LPA and median packages are close to 6-7 LPA. DE Shaw, Zomato, Myntra, Meesho, TCS and McKinsey are some top companies coming here.

SXC IN MY EYES

Likes

The brand image that it carries in the city.
It exposes us to a bunch of great like minded individuals which can be a great network.

Dislikes

The morning batch is an only boys batch, and it is usually only engaged in sleeping
It doesn't have a great infrastructure, and it's kinda old fashioned.

Placement Experience:

Internships are available from the very first semester. It has a Placement Cell, which works extensively towards placements. However, at the end of the day, it all matters in the will of the students The package varies on the basis of your skills, cgpa, and other factors.

My College is Best.

In my College, the teachers and the facilities are very good for those Students who have not so much money for Private Colleges. In ₹30,000, you could complete the Course and you can get Scholarship in Every Years for Scoring Good Marks.
In my College, there is Ground for playing Football, Cricket and other Sports. And other our teachers support us to play, not only for College, also for District, State and India Level.
The Quality of Studies, I get from my College. The manners of Teachers inspiring me to be a Good Person.

Dislikes

Sometimes in my College, I see the Bad Manners for Girls in College Campus. It is not ragging but it is Stalking and Flirting with Girls.
There is Strong Alumni Network have in my College. But Sometimes they are doing Nepotism for such Students.
There is not so much College Functions, Collaborations etc. happened in my College. It happens sometimes, but not Frequently.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I want to become an Accountant in Finance, for that I got admitted in this Course (B.com Honours). For now the Curriculum is too good to get any types of Financial Job, but I think the University should more improve the Curriculum for Future purpose. Otherwise it will be Out-dated. Teachers should more talk about AI and their uses in Real World. And Curriculum should more improve in AI Reasearch types. Exams are held 6 Months after the Semester start. And Difficulty Level is 80/100. Because it is not so easy to Complete the Syllabus in just 6 Months.

UCC has good a academics!!

Likes

UCC is the government commerce college of Kolkata and fees is almost eliminated here.
Even after low fees studies and faculties quality has not been compromised.
Placements have been around 30-40k range so far and around half the batch is placed every session.

Dislikes

I wish more area is alloted to the college as it's as tiny as a rabbit.

Placement Experience:

At our college placements are good as for government college to have placements is an achievement. ITC and EY and some banks as well we have everything or rather every sector covered because account's jobs are industry proof.

Likes

Faculties are very helpful. Good in behaviour
Library have many books for law students
Attendance is very flexible for intership

Location is not that much good for long distance students

A comprehensive review of south Calcutta law college .

Likes

This is a morning college starts from 9 am to 3 pm , and the college staff are very helpful.
This is a government college , and one of the reputed law college in west bengal , people often go for this college over good private colleges
There is many clubs and societies inside the college like music club , drama club and other clubs

Dislikes

The college is very supportive regarding attendance , so that students who want to work or intern outside the college can get benefits but this results in the college's attendance

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is very relevant and is a professional course and is a necessity in today's society to become a learned advocate or judge , I feel 5 years is bit too much but there is 2 degrees at the same time so that's okay

Umesh Chandra College is a different Universe for students!!

Likes

Even though ours is a three tier college, we still have placements of note from our college.
Merit is quite high as cut-offs go upto 86% for B.Com (Hons).
Studies are top notch here as our syllabus is of Calcutta University.

Dislikes

Campus as one gate and one building is all we have in the name of the campus.

Placement Experience:

Infosys, EY, Deloitte and PWC to name a few as accounts jobs are there in any industry. ITC and HUL as well came for placements and on and average B.Com (Hons) students are offered jobs worth 30-40,000 a year.
