University of Washington Scholarships 2026
The University of Washington offers little to no internal scholarships at the undergraduate level. For Graduate courses, there is some funding available with respect to the school the student is going to attend. Mostly, the chances of scholarships aren’t very good. The university only mentions the external scholarships available in the US for international students.
There aren’t any merit or need-based scholarships for its international students. Thus, the students should prepare for the cost of attendance and tuition fee documents accordingly. The students must demonstrate sufficient funds to cover the full cost of attendance when applying for their I-20.
Graduate students have relatively better funding options than UG students, primarily offered through academic departments. The most common sources are Teaching Assistantships (TA) and Research Assistantships (RA), which many international students actively pursue. These roles typically provide:
- Full or partial tuition waivers,
- Monthly stipend of around $3,000–$4,000+ (₹2.78–₹3.72 lakhs), and
- Health insurance coverage (GAIP).
International students are eligible for these assistantship opportunities, making them a key funding pathway for graduate study.

- The good thing about the university is that there are lot of smart people to talk to on a regular basis.
Dislikes
- There is nothing major that I dislike but I feel the university can do a bit more to help international students when they first arrive to the university from their home country.
Campus Life
- There are definitely lots of fun clubs but they are mainly for the undergrads. There are nice sports facilities including a big gym and there are two main libraries as well.
Fees
- PhD students don't pay tuition fees.

Likes
- Campus is very beautiful
- Good Public Transportation
- People are friendly and nice
Dislikes
- Weather is dull, and rainy
- Quarter system doesn’t give enough time to specialize
Campus Life
- We got th4e hiking club, TA, RA positions, and there is IMA gym for sports activities such as tennis, badmintion, football, gym, karate, cycling, etc.
- In short there is no shortage of such activities, you can find new ones every day.
Fees
- I paid around 50K. If I am not wrong, this time is around 56K - 62K.
Overview
I did not have any. I applied to uw not from abroad but from the USA since I live here! Nope. UW didnt require us to have any interviews- we just used the common application to apply to University of Washington and you got responses in March. Its close by- so I can drive to UW and come back and save money on staying on campus. Since I'm on the pre med track. uw is a great school for that and has its own med school I hope to attend! I have heard that a lot of students use this app called Handshake to get jobs and o have heard its useful. I know some family who graduated from uw and got a job at SPACEX Overall its quite an experience! Its difficult but you have to expect it to be that way. Uw is a top school for stem!
Campus Life
Campus life is okay tbh! Wifi is accessible all over campus and theirs a lot of clubs. I currently commute so i am not currently a part of anything or know the student life as much as those who live on campus.
Likes
- I believe the program they have here is very good and complete. They invest a lot of resources, time and effort in research which gives students a lot of options depending on their field. As a university they feel like they care. I also chose because of the location, it’s a city that has become a high tech center and gives many opportunities, as well as the beautify and variety of nature and cultures.
Overview
It has been an amazing experience, filled with support systems that help me accommodate academically as well as culturally and personally.
Campus Life
This university truly has a bit of everything. Thanks to its location, the activities and sports are not limited to what can be done on an interior building or field, but there’s a lot of water sports, hiking, skiing. There’s also groups for any interest you may have, personally I have joined the choir which is very high level. The facilities and libraries are huge and have all the resources you may need, as well as the systems of support to help you find and make good use of those resources.
Overview
The first thing I thought about when choosing a college was its marching band. In high school, I was a member of a core-style marching band. Every year we would spend weeks before school started at band camp to pour our efforts into a unique performance. We competed with other high schools and had tons of fun. Marching band was the highlight of my high school career, and I knew I had to keep being involved. The UW stood out to me for this reason. On top of its great location and academic prowess, it has one of the most entertaining college bands in the country. I applied for 3 other schools in Washington, but I knew this was my first choice. Luckily, my high school prepared me well for the application process and I was not worried. With a 3.8 GPA and AP test scores, I was sure to be accepted. Getting into the UW was exciting because I knew I would continue to pursue my musical interests as well as my academic ones.
Fees
There are scholarships available for many students on campus. The international student center probably has a lot of that information. There are many scholarships for minorities and other groups. Tuition fees increase every year but financial aid is available. I was awarded a scholarship through my major by the art history department. A great way to get scholarships is to use your good academics. That way you can apply with the work you have already done till this point.
Overview
It is a very highly respected college. My parents always wanted me to go to this college, and it is close to home. People who go to this college are able to obtain employment easily because they tend to be highly educated.
Fees
Books are around $825. Room and board run around $11,000. Tuition and fees are about $10,000 for in-state. Other expenses for me were around $3000.
Overview
Because I got in. Originally, I had planned to transfer to Western Washington University. However, after a campus visit to UW, I was in love (like many) with the campus and decided I at least wanted to apply. After hearing back, I decided I wanted to give it a shot.
Fees
Tuition is the biggest fee. There is also a quarterly fee for a quarterly bus pass. The next largest expense is off-campus housing.
