Sri Aurobindo College: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 31 Reviews

Admission to Delhi University (DU) is merit-based, relying on 12th-grade scores. The admission process is competitive, as high cutoffs determine eligibility. The faculty is highly qualified, often with advanced degrees from prestigious institutions, and maintains a faculty-to-student ratio of around 40:1. The BA program's curriculum is industry-relevant, and exams are held in a semester format. About 25% of students find the exams challenging, particularly without a math background. The program fees are structured as follows: first-year fees are INR 6,500, with an additional semester fee of INR 500, totaling INR 1,000 in exam fees annually; second-year fees are INR 6,000; and third-year fees are INR 5,400, with semester fees of INR 1,000.

These fees are affordable for a central university, though they exclude hostel costs since no on-campus accommodation is provided. Placement opportunities are robust for B.Com (Hons), Maths Hons, and Economics Hons students, with a 60-70% placement rate. Last year, 187 students were placed, and 40 secured internships. The highest package offered was 21 lakhs per annum, with an average package of 6-7 lakhs. Major recruiters include Byjus, Accenture, EY, KPMG, Deloitte, HCL, and Wipro.

The active placement cell supports and organizes interviews, while internships in roles like Finance and Marketing are more accessible for B.Com and BSc students; however, BA placements are limited. Scholarships are available through government schemes, focusing on reserved categories such as SC/ST and PWD students. Merit scholarships require high academic performance, and need-based scholarships are for families with an income below 8 lakhs annually. The annual fee ranges from 6,000 to 12,000 INR for general candidates and 3,000 to 5,000 INR for SC/ST students, with nominal annual hikes.

Though the college itself does not offer direct scholarships, students can apply through DU's official channels.
