My college - NIT DURGAPUR

There are so many positives and so many negatives in this college, overall it is well balanced college. Positives are like, in our college we live like a family where in other colleges they even didn't care for remaining. All regional festivals will be celebrated in hostels and we live happily over here. Where negatives are you know, above mentioned in other questions.

Course has been changed slightly compared to past years and it is slightly beneficial, like I'm past years classes and labs of same subject were conducted in same year but now it was changed and the labs of one subject will be conducted next semester after that subject was taught. And exam structure is also good, there will be one mid term exam and one end term exam.

Placements are average in our college, departments like IT, CSE, ECE can get intern but for core departments it is very tough to get an intern through college. Core branch students should try outside the college for internship. Training and placement cell is very worst in our college, bloody politics they will play. If training and placement cell is good then everyone can get intern in any college, it depends on training and placement cell.

There are so many events celebrated in our college, like there are technical fest, cultural fest, other than this there are 24 active clubs in our college in various fields, which will conduct events throughout the year. Even I am a part of Automotive club of nit durgapur, SAE INDIA. we conduct many interesting events, not only technical but there are so many cultural clubs are also there which will conduct fun events also.

Fee structure over here is based on different categories for SC, ST students there will be total fee reimbursement, for OC and OBC students fees will be depended on their family annual income, if their income is 1,00,000/-, then they will be fully reimbursed, if 1,00,0005,00,000 then they should pay the fees completely. And the semester fees is 69,000 rupees. As compared to other premium college the fees structure is feasible not so expensive.

Yes, there will be scholarship facilities through various sources, there will be different schemes for different state people by their state government, by central government there will be a scholarship of 10000 for merit OC Students and 30000 for SC, ST students. For states like bihar, UP there will be different schemes. There will be educational loan facility also by different banks like canara, SBI, etc at affordable interest rates.

Extra curricular activities are decent enough. There will be a mandatory course of physical education for first years, but after first year it is student wish to go and play or not. Even facilities are also not that good, as durgapur is situated in West bengal, football culture is more over here, so there is no perfect cricket ground to play, but there are two football grounds and the main problem is, college cannot be extended as it is surrounded by so many slums and residential complexes of different companies.

I didn't know about alumni network very much, but upto my knowledge it is very good in our college, as in initial days the college standed at 2nd position while it was called as REC. Present seniors are very good, during my joining in this college ragging is very high, but due to some circumstances happened in this college in past 2 years, ragging has been completely stopped. Seniors are very much helpful if you are interactive with them.

I got into this college through jee mains, and the admission process went through josaa portal, once I got allotment then I came to this college and finished some paperwork and joined here. There are so many criteria for this like jee mains rank etc.

Yes, faculty of this college were nice, some of them were crack but remaining are cool and faculty here were well more educated and the academic knowledge was vast in them. Some faculty members are teaching us out of the syllabus courses also for betterment of us.
