Remarks
None as such. A big positive are cooperative friends, faculty and seniors who become kind of a family during the time we stay in contact. A negative comment will be that people of different cultures often fail to adjust, whichead to unpleasantness.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is informative and does provide the proper education on the subject. Our year is divivded into two bi-annual periods called semesters, and each semester has two exams, called mid-semester exam and end-semester exam.
Placement Experience
NIT Durgapur gets nearly a minimum of 70% of its students from every department placed in jobs. CSE/IT people get 85% placements, while EE dept gets 75% placements, the Mech dept gets 70% placement. No, I do not still yet know if NIT Durgapur offers internships.
College Events
There are 3 main fests celebrated every year in our college every year. They are: 1. Aaviskar(October-end) 2.Aarohan(February) 3.Recstacy(April) - This is the biggest event, where even faculties come to see.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is extremely feasible.The standard fee is Rs 69000 per sem for people having annual income above 5 lakh. By an income certificate showing less than 5 lakh, it can be reduced to 23000 per sem. An income certificate showing lesser than 1 lakh can reduce all costs to a mere 7500 per semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes, there are a lot of scholarships available that are offered by the college for students with economic pinch. Apart from that, NIT Durgapur has a SBI branch in it which caters exclusively to students, offering loans and helping them to manage their expenditures.
Campus Life
The sports section of the college needs support. After the first year, they stopped asking us to come and play in the field, and no one gets encouraged to play, aside from those who know to play. We have teams in all departments, and they even go to inter NIT meets and win, but success rate is lower compared to other NITs like Warangal/Trichy.
Hostel Facilities
I've opted for hostel and since I'm in 2nd year, I'll say till then. The 1st year hostel(Hall 11)is great and has all kinds of facilities. The 2nd year hostel(Hall1-Hall2) conditions are bad. They are badly in need of repair.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes they are greatly helpful. The seniors do not rag the junior students much at all. And they also provide a lot of insight of what will come in the future years. They often invite to stay with them.
Admission
I got admission in the college via giving JEE Mains in 2018. On the merit list, my rank was 19k-ish, which enabled me to admit myself in this college in the EE course. We had to go and submit various documents, including our merit ranking list.
Faculty
The faculty of the college are extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable. They are a lot experienced and do help to clear doubts properly. A few teachers are extremely strict, the rest often symphatize with the students.
