NIT Durgapur College Review

Every thing is excellent in our college, spending 4 years of life in our college is best thing i have ever experienced.The only thing negative in our college is food and ragging although it was stopped after our batch has passed out.Food in our college is worst we have survived just because a place called jhoops infront of our college where we can get delicious food.

Since NIT's are Institutes with national importance it is only next to IIT's Which are top Engineering colleges in India,Course Curriculum is perfectly designed by the board of governors of our college where every subject included in curriculum is exactly what is needed for students for that particular year and each year has 2 semesters and at the end of each semester we have examination which is of for 70 marks and during the semester we have mid exams which is for 20 marks and for attendance 10 marks.

During first semester of the final year many multi national companies and many startups recruiters visit our college for recruiting the students, Since our college has one job policy(only one job for student) many other students get chances to join in company that they like and placement percentage tends to increase with that policy in our branch during our placement period almost 80% of students were placed.Our college does not provide any Internships.

Each year our college clubs conduct 2 fests one is a technical fest and another one is cultural fest both are the best fests you can ever visit in total East part of India, and we also celebrate many festivals and Durga Puja is most widely celebrated in our college and entire West Bengal.

During our Joining of college the fee for Open category/OBC students is 42k-45k per semester and 2k-3k mess bill per month. and for other category like SC/St they have 6k-7k per semester and mess bill is same for all students,Fee during our time is feasible and not that expensive but for the batch next to ours i.e, for our juniors the govt has increased fees which is somewhat expensive for Open/OBc category students.

Our college provide scholarship every year for students whose family income is below 1lakh per annum and college gives around 20k-30k per year. During admissions several banks like SBI and Canara provide interest free loans for students they give us around 4.5 lakhs for 4 years of BTech.

As NIT's are top Institutes we have all type of activities apart from studies , In our first year we have several activities like NSS, NCC and Sports, We have to choose among them,Our college has 2 play grounds one is mainly used for conducting fests and other events like Independence day etc and other ground is for playing and our college has gym and several indoor games and equipment every thing is great.

In our first year of Btech we got room that must be shared by 4 people and rooms was pretty nice in first year and then in second and third year the buildings we have given was too old and infrastructure is too bad there and coming to final year each student was given a room i.e, one room per student which was very good and our hostels rooms don't have a.c's since it is a government college.

Each year our college conducts alumi meet where our senior students visit our college and share their experince so that we can know what's actually reality is and how hard it can be, they share their mobile numbers and they are really helpful when needed.

After successfully passing the JEE Mains Entrance Exam,It is a national wide entrance exam conducted by several IIT's. I got a rank around 8k with this rank i have given my list of preferred colleges and branches to JOSAA which is seat allocation authority,After 5 rounds of allocation process finally i got seat in NIT Durgapur with CSE as branch with my rank.

Since NIT's are only next to IIT's , In our branch CSE our college has around 50 faculty just for our branch and in that around 20 are senior most faculty with almost 20-30 years experience they are the best you can ever get in any college they share not only the knowledge but the also experience.
