Remarks
The infrastructure is improving a lot. New systems are being implemented. Things are moving towards a brighter end but there is still a long way to go.
Course Curriculum Overview
I am not very satisfied with the course curriculum so far(in first year). It is not relevant to my field of study. However from next year the curriculum will change and we will all be required to study only the departmental subjects. But even then the study doesn't seem very research driven. It's too theoretical and most students have to take up other courses over the internet. Classroom studied aren't very beneficial for the kind of jobs that most of us opt for. We have to learn those things by ourself. For core jobs the curriculum is fine, but for technology related jobs we have to study extra.
Placement Experience
There are a huge number of companies visiting the campus. Some of them include- Microsoft, Amazon, Qualcomm, Infosys, TCS, IBM, JP Morgan, Capegemini, OYO, Cognizant, Mahindra, UBER, etc. I am not aware of the recruitment drive of these companies. There is a placement and training cell which prepares students for the placement. Around 80% of student get placed each year.
College Events
We have several fests organised by various clubs. We hav techno management fest, cultural fest, e summit, etc. We celebrate Republic Day and Independence Day. Other festivals like Saraswati puja are also celebrated. There is huge participantion in all of them. Our college also participated in a national sports campaign in which the entire first year was present.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Rs 70000 per semester. It is feasible. However we have to pay additional amount for food as this fee isn't inclusive of it. Yes there is transparancy in the fee breakdown. The educational, technical and hostel fee are included in this sum. Mode of payment is online through SBI e-collect. Payment is done online and proof of the payment has to be submitted along with semester registration form in the academic office.
Fees and Financial Aid
I haven't availed any. But as far as my knowledge goes, students from poor economic background or those who belong to the minorities section get special grants as in their semester fee is less than the general students.
Campus Life
Campus life is fun once you make friends. There isn't a lot to explore but we can always find something to do here. Gender ratio is quite poor. Only 12 girls in a class of 100. Sports is mandatory in first year and is part of our curriculum. Labs are in working condition but the infrastructure is way too old. Competitions are great as there are students excelling in different fields. There is a lot of acceptance in this campus. Students and teachers alike accept the diversity. As this is a college of national importance, we have students from all over the country and we all live together in harmony. There is no discrimination based on gender, religion, caste, etc.
Hostel Facilities
Yes. I have opted for hostel facility. I live in a sharing room with one roommate. There are rooms for four people as well. In first year the hostel condition is not up to the mark. There are lots of complains of water shortage, wifi problems, etc. Rooms are too small to share with another person. However things are better for girls from 2nd year. Hostels are new and have more facilities then.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors are extremely helpful and friendly. There is a great bonding between students of different years.
Admission
The admission was held through a national level exam called JEE. Those who qualify are eligible to apply to this college. The admission process was onlime based on ranks earned in the entrance exam and university preferences of students. There were several rounds and after each round out tentative institution was displayed until the final round in which we got out final college and branch. Each round was at a gap of 2 days. After the final round we had to report to the institution for further admission procedure(payment of fee, booking hostel rooms, etc). I opted for this course because it is my area of interest.
Faculty
In our course there have been around 30 lecturers including those for practical classes and workshops. Average age will be around 45-50. They are all qualified and very knowledgeable in their domains. They also hold a lot of experience as they have been in the teaching job for years. Most teachers are able to clearly explain their subjects and clarify any doubts the students might have. Yes some lecturers have industry experience.
