Remarks

All in all, NIT Durgapur is a great college. Formerly known as RE College, it has set its value in the field of the great universities of India.

Entrance Preview

I sat for AIEEE in 2012 and my score was 131. I took NIT Durgapur because it is in my state and it has this great history in the field of producing many talents from allover India.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The whole course is in a good structured condition because there is a lot of things to be learned. There are subjects like Data Structure, Algorithm Analysis, DBMS, Networking, Computation Theory etc. Moreover, there are a total of 10 elective subjects like Mathematics, Soft Computing etc which are great to study.

Internships Opportunities

Yes and a lot of companies came previous year. There were companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Belzabar, PayU etc. Apart from that, some departments like Metallurgy and Civil and Mechanical Department provides internship from the department itself. Companies stated above offered 20k-35k per month stipend. Even Amazon offered a Pre Placement Offer of 27 lpa.

Placement Experience

4

With one semester to go, almost 67% students from all the departments are placed. The highest was paid by Microsoft, who offered job of 18 lpa. Other companies like Drishti Softwares pays 17 lpa, Endurance 15 lpa, Novell 8.5 lpa and DE Shaw 16.8 lpa.

College Events

4.5

There are many events held at the college. The biggest one is Recstacy, the annual fest. There is a techno-management fest called Aarohan. The Linux Users Group organizes Mukti and there are events of 3 days like Verve, Technoshine, Ank etc. The professors always extends their support towards the extra-curricular activities.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee-structure is absolutely feasible. The semester fee is 17500 only there are medical insurance, hostel fee and library fee which in total sums upto 25k for a semester. As a student belonging to a middle-class family, it is feasible for him to pay such amount.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are a lot of scholarships offered by the college. There are scholarships from Gymkhana, former director DM Sen, etc. Besides, there are scholarships offered by the government.

Campus Life

3.5

The ratio of boys and girls is almost 4:3. There is no diversity among students. Campus life is awesome as it has a gym, 2 great grounds, an auditorium and this great academic building. A year before, students from the college has won a robotics competition held in Noida and came out first allover India. In other words, college life has provided the students a good helping hand.

Hostel Facilities

3

There are a total of 11 hostels for students in which 4 are for girls and 7 others for boys. There is a quarter for non-Indian students. Talking about the mess food, it is quite good. The monthly expenditure for mess food never exceeds 1800 as we get 50% subsidy from the government.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors have been very much helpful throughout my college life. Ragging has no identity in the college campus. The alumni network is very much active as they reunite every year and give tips to fellow students for their future life.

Exam Structure

There are 2 semesters. The odd semester starts from mid week of November and the other starts from mid week of April. The lab tests are taken two weeks before the exam so it helps the students not to worry about their semester exams and they get whole lot of time to prepare for the same.

Faculty

4

Since this is a college of national importance, the teachers are highly qualified and from great universities. The teachers always guide the students to achieve everything a youth wants to. The teachers always appreciate the students who want to do something out of the box.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
