Remarks
Hindu College is one of most reputed colleges and it deserved every bit of that. The faculty is top notch and the college gives an equitable platform for all students. A few changes that i would recommend are:-- Better Backend Management at the Admin Office.- More assimilation opportunities between the hosteliers and the locals.
Entrance Preview
As a topper from my school i was very keen to pursue and get into a college in North Campus purely because of the coolness quotient associated with it. I was a Sociology topper as well and was really not sure of what career i wanted to pursue. I got through Hindu in the first cut off list and hence went ahead and pursued the course.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was very defined but slightly outdated to current times and element of actual and practical research which would have aided further in relevant job searches was missing.
Internships Opportunities
We were not offered any internships through college for our particular course and hence i feel that the course needs to be restructured to make it more career focused.
Placement Experience
Again there were no placements that were done for our course through college. Most of the students opted for interviews on their own.
College Events
The main cultural festival Mecca is organized in a big way. I attended the festival for two years of my college. The festival is very well organized with every element being detailed out.
Fee Structure And Facilities
For me the fees was very reasonable.Coming from a private school background i found the college fees very economical. Although there were a lot of SC/ST quota students in our class who found the fees really high.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am not really aware of any such thing personally but i think that compensations were offered to students from SC/ST?OBC communities.
Campus Life
Campus Life is an experience in itself. From the college lectures to canteens to the cultural festivals to the elections everything is a once in a lifetime experience. Being a co-ed college the gender ratio was very evenly balanced. The college boosts of several societies which cater to drama, dance, sports, and several other extra curricular activities and fair auditions for the same were conducted.Ragging is restricted and even during elections fair play was maintained.
Hostel Facilities
I am from Delhi and did not stay in the hostel. I visited the hostel a few times though. The food was really good but cleanliness was always an issue.
Alumni/Alumna
College Seniors for our course were really helpful. They not only helped us with the orientation but guided us all along for the college life.Hindu also boats of a strong alumini network who were available to us as and when needed and contributed to the festivals especially with their industry connects and experience.
Exam Structure
From my batch the concept of internals was started which was new to Delhi University. So before the mains in March, preparatory exams were held in Jan. The spacing for the same was an issue at that time.
Faculty
The faculty mostly for the course was excellent as they were pros at their job since they had been with the college for long. The older faculty knew the syllabus in and out. There were couple of new teachers who had joined who however made the whole process really boring.Sociology as is a slow subject and hence its important for the faculty to make it interactive and interesting.
