HINDU - A place that has my heart

I feel my college Hindu College which I am proud to call has stood upto more than my expectations. The college management is always helpful, they always treat students like their children and provide the necessary aid whenever required. Thr reason I’ve grown as a person is because of Hindu. I got to meet diverse personalities all across the nation and everyone here is so humble and caring. This has been my place away from home. My day started with the warm smiles our guard uncle gave while checking our id’s. This institution has provided me with numerous opportunities and challenged me to come out of my comfort zone and excel. It has provided me with friends whom I proudly cal family. All in all I’m blessed that I choose Hindu over other colleges.

I feel that my course is a bit difficult and the exam structure for some subjects was fair was directly applicable from the reading and the material taught, but on the other side some subjects like econometrics and intermediate microeconomics the exam of these subjects were really difficult and confusing. In my opinion my course was all theoretic and not practical. Sometimes the teachings were helpful in making us understand the world outside books but overall it was all book knowledge. Subjects like money and financial markets and financial eco were important and provided market based knowledge which would help us being professional. Few subjects made us indulge into research for required assignments but overall it was not a research driven course. Also in few semesters our exams that were prepared were very lengthey and many students were unable to complete their exams.

The placement of my college is very fine and helps and makes sure the most of the students who sit for placements get through and placed. Our campus was visited my the top companies such as EY Parthenon, L. E. K Consulting, D. E Shaw, Bain Capability Centre, Boston Consulting Group(BCG), Deloitte USI, ZS Associates, PwC, Accenture, Byju’s among the tops recruiters. I fell Disha - Hindu’s placement society is one of the renowned and most successful society in providing placements to the students. Abhyas - the internship cell of Hindu is also successful as it provides internships to the students. The placement process starts with a pre-placement talk, then to an aptitude test, followed by cv short listing and then to various interview rounds. All the members of the placement team are very dedicated and helpful. I feel there are some departments that Disha doesn’t cater to and doesn’t provide much of placement opportunities, but they are provided to the majority who sit for placements. The college provides Disha with required help as it is one society representing the college.

Our college is known for its diverse culture, management events and programs on regular basis. The events celebrated range from, Mushaira - The literary fest, Vaktavya, Samvad - event by NSS, the famous V-tree puja, majestic MECCA - annual fest of Hindu, one that is celebrated and appreciated throughout the University and considered to be a top quality entertainment event among all other colleges. All these events are attended by great number of students. MECCA alone witnesses footfall of over 70000, making the fest season complete. Students from various institutions participate in these events and festivals and gain skills and experiences. The hard work people put into making these events are rewarded by the popularity those same events gain. There is the Hindu college Parliament which is responsible for conducting most of the events and fests, including the annual MECCA fest.

In my opinion, I think the fees charged is feasible for a majority of people. But the administration should also consider students coming from deprived backgrounds. My course fees is Rs14500 approximately. The college accepts fees payment either by cash deposit or online payment. However the process of getting the fee receipt verified can be difficult due to the huge lines. There was one time fee required for online registration, moreover there are fees of around Rs700-800 charged every year by the department in order to carry out department activities. Other than that there are examination fees charged every semester to sit in the exams. Other than these fees there aren’t any amount charged. Also our college does provide transparency in the fee breakdown, and there is the financial department of the Hindu college parliament that makes sure everything is in check.

I’m did not opt for any scholarship, but in my knowledge scholarships were definitely provided to students with great academic records and also to unprivileged students.

Hindu’s campus live is very lively and energetic. At Hindu everyone is welcomed with opened arms, throughout my graduation and in my knowledge I haven’t seen or heard any incidents of students being discriminated in any field. Rather everyone is taught and encouraged to showcase their talent and skill and are always supported by each other. In my course I think there are more males than females and overall the gender ratio is not entirely biased but it slightly is. I feel the gender ratio is in favour of males and the ratio is approximately 55:45. There are frequent society parties as well as student dorm parties which are lit in themselves. Students attending them are made comfortable and they enjoy with the rest of students from various departments. There are annual inter-department sports that are viewed by many students. Departments cheer and hoot for their friends playing in those games. Various societies conduct seminars, events, festivals, etc which include inter college debates, educational olympiads, cultural, musical events are also considered by societies. In a lot of these events Hindu has won numerous times. No one at Hindu has ever judged anyone based on their religion, race, sexual orientation and will never be. There are pride rallies organised in order to show support and stand up for those people who are at times judged and mistreated based on their sexual orientation and appearances.

No, I am a Delhite and for that reason we were not allowed to attain the hostel facilities. I agree that outstation children need hostel facilities but students like us who had to travel for over than 2 hours also desired those facilities. Also as per my hostel friends, girls hostel were well maintained as compared to boys hostel. Hostel facilities are provided to outstation children and that too on the basis of marks & percentages attained by them in class 12th.

My college seniors were always very helpful and kind towards me and my friends since the first day we step in college. We were guided and helped by our seniors in getting through the admissions process. Further, we were helped on every since journey we as juniors embarked on. Subject selection, which generic electives to choose, what skills you need for the corporate world, presentation l, holding meetings to discuss about the department, what do recruiters demand, which societies to join and what are the benefits etc, we were always supported by our seniors.

I completed my 12th from abroad and I was adviced to get in Hindu as it stands for eduction and diversity. I was delighted getting into Hindu. I took admission in July 2017 in Economics Honours course. From grade 11th itself I was fascinated into economics and hence had decided that I’ll pursue my bachelors in that course only. The online registration process began in the end of May and the procedure of admissions started in the end of June with the first cut of being announced. I felt very happy aa I made it in the first list itself. I chose Hindu as was advice by my well wishers that Hindu is one institute that values its education being provided and also the tutorials provided are not available in other colleges and can be very helpful. Indeed those tuts helped a lot. The admission process in college began with the verification of documents with the respective department heads and then were asked to pay the fees. After this on 20th July, was the orientation day where I met fellow classmates and friends. The whole process was very smooth.

Our college faculty members are all highly educated staff. They consist of young energetic and always helpful teachers who are always available to help their students. We used to have 20-25 lectures per month of core subjects and 15-18 lectures for elective subjects. I felt the my teachers had great practical and theoretical knowledge about the subject they were teaching and most of them were Phd degree holders. All of them used to conduct tutorials as well as interaction on one to one basis which helped us very much.
