Remarks

I always wanted to get into an IIT/NIT. Since, I didn't score well enough to get into any IIT, I thought of going into an NIT. Also, this was the nearest NIT from my home, and my parents had asked me not to choose any college too far away. Moreover, NIT Durgapur has sufficiently good placement and other stats. All these factors made me choose this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Yes, I think that our course curriculum is pretty well updated, as I had a talk to my friends in IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Dhanbad and their syllabus matches a lot to the syllabus in my college. Teachers in my college give much emphasis on academics and try to answer most of the doubts we have in our class. The theory classes don't have much industrial exposure, but the practical classes surely do. All Professors are very well qualified. Also, most of the faculty in our college is good in explaining the subjects to us. Moreover, even in this pandemic, we're having a lot of onlone classes on Google Meet and Zoom to help complete the syllabus.

Placement Experience

4.5

Our college has a specific Training and Placement Cell for facilitating placements for students in their final year. Also, last year, 109 companies visited our college, offering placements in various profiles. The placement process is pretty smooth, as said by my seniors. The placement rate is 78% in my department(Electrical Engineering). Our college Alumni Network is very strong, when it comes to job referrals, as stated by my seniors. Our college has 2 Entrepreneurship Cells, E-Cell(CCA- Centre for Cognitive Activities) and EDC(Entrepreneurship and Development Cell)

College Events

4.5

We have a very good campus life. Our college has 5 big festivals in total. Aarohan- The 2nd largest Techno-Management fest in Eastern India. Recstacy, The Annual Cultural fest organised by the college Gymkhana. Verve, another cultural fest organised by The Literary Circle. Virasat, another classical cultural festival organised by Spic Macay Chapter, NIT Durgapur. Also, there's an E-Summit organised by the Entrepreneurship Cell, NIT Durgapur. Also, our college has 18 clubs which organise various events and we can be a part of the clubs. Moreover, students in their first year have sports activities, 2 days in a week, in the morning from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM.

Campus Life

4.5

We have 2 huge grounds, Lords and Ovals for our sports activities, although most of it takes place in Ovals(the bigger one). We have an entire building dedicated to the Library. It contains a lot of books, and is occasionally updated with newer ones. There is separate Wifi in separate hostels, library, etc. The Wifi in my hostel is not very good. Coming to labs, we have pretty good labs with mostly updated instruments. Also, NIT Durgapur is the only college(as far as I know) in Eastern India with a high voltage laboratory.

Hostel Facilities

4

Yes, I have opted for a hostel. Our hostels have a lot of rooms. The entire 1st year(boys) stay in that hostel (Hall 11 for boys). Girls from 1st year stay in Hall 7. 3 people share a room. We have an 3 almirahs, 3 tables, 3 chairs, 3 beds, 2 fans, 2 tube-lights and 3 night-lamps in our rooms. They are pretty spacious. It is very easy to avail the hostel facility, as we have our Hostel Warden and Hostel Caretaker to help us in the same.

Placement Experience:

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
