Remarks

I chose Engineering because it's probably the easiest way to get a job and i will learn about many others things about our daily lives as well. This will also help me for my higher studies and i will also get and option to choose other career options as well. MBA M. Tech are there too. We have seen engineering students have pursued career in different fields like politics, films, sports etc.

Course Curriculum Overview

Well as of now the semester has just begun and we are in the introductory stage. But in the previous semesters, syllabus was completed on time and we were given proper notes and suggestions. The faculties helped us a lot by giving online assignments and class tests on google meet

Class Size: 62Course Fees: INR 336400 per year

Internships Opportunities

Yes i opted for internship from Jadavpur University. It was a stipend less internship though. I was a marketing intern and had to promote an app "CAMPUS 24".

Placement Experience

The best thing about our college is placements. Our director of admin and finance is our training placement officer. Students from CSE get placed nearly to 98%. Student of ECE and IT are supposed to be 85%-88% and Electrical to be 60%-65% because being a student of core stream many don't get in the software company

College Events

We have a tech fest called "SREY". Though cultural programs are not held in our college. Only a singing competition is held during this fest. Sports day is of 2 days which happens in february. Moreover we have tournaments for football cricket, Badminton and Table tennis

Campus Life

For each student, the sufficient books are there in the library. We also have a book bank for the students to collect books for the entire semester. Labs for all the 4 departments are well equipped. The wifi is for the students to gain knowledge and perform courses on different sites.

Hostel Facilities

No, didn't opt for a hostel. Because we don't have one. There are PG around the college in which students who are far from home reside. Many of my classmates have a room in pg. The rent of every month is likely to be 1100-1800.(for boys)

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Deperments with strong placement cells secure 10-15 offers per company, depending on batch size. 5. 8-10LPA Highest package offered by Leading companies and 4-5LPA Average package offered by companies. 6. 60-80% of students getting placements. i am interested in Ph.D. programs for research positions.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

See,I didn't get good percentile in jee advance and so I choose to give wbjee exam to get a seat in engineering colleges and I got a rank of almost 17k where I got cse department in 2nd phase of wbjee counciling.I choose St Thomas College of Engineering and Technology because the fees is very low compare to other colleges as I don't get jadavpur university or any other top in that rank and I am very happy from my decision because of you need a college that gives placement and fees is not too high .This college is best for that....Read More
