Remarks
Being a local native from Durgapur I have already made up my mind that I wanted to pursue my B.Tech at NIT Durgapur. Yes, I did have a quota, OBC. At my time of admission, there were no specific criteria for my program.
Course Curriculum Overview
Metallurgical and Materials Engineering was the course that I got enrolled in here. The faculties are great here. Being their knowledge and their behavior as well. They really are supportive. The end-term exams were conducted once every 6 months. And it was not too difficult to pass. At least for me.
Internships Opportunities
JPMC, Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs - These are the few of the companies that come to our college with a decent stipend and chances of pre-placement, also known as PPO in our terms, offers to its interns.
Placement Experience
The college placement process starts from somewhere around mid-September of our 7th semester. Companies like Capgemini, ZS, Collegedunia, Accenture, Deloitte, and many others come to our campus for recruiting full-timers. Microsoft, Amazon, JPMC hire interns to whom they provide pre-placement offers once their internship is completed.
Fees and Financial Aid
The cost was neither too high nor too low. It was pretty much decent. Moreover, for families with financial conditions, they could produce an income certificate which would help them to pay a lower fee. No, I did not avail any kind of Sponsorship or Financial Assistance.
Campus Life
AAROHAN, was the name of the technical dest which was conducted in the second week of February. One could get all the books in the library, by searching it of course. And by searching I mean rigorous seaching. It was never easy to find a book in there for me. The classrooms were pretty much good.
Hostel Facilities
The food provided in the hostel was good but varied from hostel to hostel. For boys, there were 9 hostels and 4 for girls. A new hostel has been constructed which is massive in size. It was made compulsory for us to have a hostel.
