Remarks

I've got my admission confirmed in Mithibai College, Mumbai University for the 'multimedia and mass communication' course but my priority was always DU. The admission procedure for colleges of MU is different from DU. There you can apply for the end no. of colleges and whatever course you want (there are eligibility criteria also for courses) and then they release the merit list of selected candidates. I took admission in Miranda House in BA Honours Philosophy but after attending classes for two weeks I canceled my admission from there because I realized that philosophy is not a subject for me. But staff and teachers of Miranda House were really supportive and the faculty is really good there. Their teaching style was not at all boring but student-friendly teaching. Currently, I'm in Daulat Ram College and pursuing history honors. I was getting Zakir Hussain also but I took DRC beacuse of the North campus and also there is NCC & NSS. But it's not easy to get into NCC because of limited seats (42 seats).

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose history honors because I love to know about the past. I also love to visit historical places and for me, history is not at all boring. There are around 18 departments in DRC and approx. 3500 students and faculty of 200. It offers 55 courses in total across arts, commerce, and science at UG and PG level. There diploma and certificate courses also. Teachers are really qualified. The history faculty of DRC is known as the best faculty of history in DU. Teaching methods differ from teacher to teacher, some lectures are really interesting while others can be boring. Well, teachers can change their pattern of teaching as things are online. Sometimes teaching is not at all interactive. Exams took 15 days and as of now they are online (OBE). For obe you need to be aware of all topics from course and writing speed should be fast. Even if it is obe it is not easy and you will not get time to cheat much.

Internships Opportunities

4

Placement cell offers internships to work with AIS, Bajaj Capitals, Internshala, Decathlon, Oyo, Sharekhan, Collegedunia, Unacdemy, Joshtalks, Dubeats, Urban company, triedge.in , bookmypg, cash karo, unschool, URIS, infotech, teach for India, spread smile foundation, girl up wings, global arcus, eatmynewsss, mash, World youth council, ED times, Peacock solar, TTW, etc. 46.2 % of the internship opportunities are with private companies, 12.3 % with NGOs, 33.8 % with startups, and 7.7 % with others, etc. Profiles offered are content writing, marketing, campus ambassador, digital marketing, sales, operations, graphic designing, human resource management, and research, etc. This is my first internship as of now and I'm quite enjoying it also the team head is very good in nature and is patient. Placement cell also organizes annual internship and career fair - incrementum and speakers' conclave.

Placement Experience

5

The placement cell of the college is quite active and growing day by day. It provides internship opportunities for all students both paid and non-paid with 120+ companies. Final year students get opportunities to work with really good companies and MNCs like Wipro, Byjus, Vedantu, USI, etc. There are a total of 85+ recruitment companies they are working with. There are internship drives and alumini opportunities also. It organizes workshops and webinars from time to time. They also organize collaboration and events and workshops on cv building. In 2020-21, 70+ students got offer letters from big companies, and there 100% increase in offer letters. The highest package is upto 9 lakhs per annum and a gross package of 4 cr. I'm still thinking about my plans but I'm also thinking of applying for UPSC and civil services.

Fees and Financial Aid

Well fees is not much in all DU colleges. For most of the honors courses fees is 15890. For program courses it is 16000 approx. There are scholarships for students struggling to pay the fees. Scholarships are there for students from EWS. There are scholarships on the basis of your overall results. Like scholarship for top 3 students and scholarship for blind student of the year. College also offers 100% scholarship for PWD and VH students. Needy students are also helped by student aid fund. Placement cell of college is really active. It provides internship opportunities for students in top companies. DRC has Graduation Outcome (GO) of 87.45 and GO rank of 10. It provides opportunities for final year students to work with Campus by Smart cube, Capital IQ, Ernest & Young, KPMG, Wipro, Genpact, ICIC Prudential, HDFC Life, among the other organizations. This is my first internship.

Campus Life

4

Right now everything is online but still, all the societies and departments of the college are active. Major is the annual fest of the college mostly conducted in April. Excogitatia is the annual fest of finance and investment cell mostly organized in February. Each society has its own annual fests. The College Library possesses an excellent collection of books, journals, and periodicals. The college has laboratories for all science courses and there is a well-equipped computer lab, seminar hall, and amphitheatre also called Rangshala in DRC, Auditorium (Sadbhavna Bhawan), medical room with the attendant nurse, college canteen. College also has a bank for students on its premises. All the departments, socities, unions, and cells of college have their own social media handle run by the students and for the students only. The college has NCC, NSS, and NSO. The selection process in NCC and NSO is quite difficult because of limited no. of seats and eligibility criteria.

Other Applied Colleges

Miranda House | BA Honours Philosophy

I've been in this college and attended the lectures also but I realised that it was a wrong decision

Mithibai College of Arts and Commerce | Bachelor of arts in multimedia and mass communication

I left this college because Delhi University and history honors was my first priority.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
