Remarks
I applied to colleges like Maitreya college and Delhi college of arts and commerce. But I finally chose to attend Daulat Ram College as it is on the North campus and I thought it would provide me a better exposure. For Bachelor's degree in History honors the best of 4 subjects required should have been above 93.75%. There weren't any age criteria. The admission process was a bit tiring as a lot of documents had to checked and signed which were on different floors and classes. No clear signs were present to help students. Although teachers were helpful, they gave a guide about the college and activities.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose to study history because I was interested in the field and wanted to continue in it near future. My class has 57 girl students but the sitting capacity is poor in the college. 2 of the teachers of my department have a doctorate in History, others are pursuing it. 3 out of 8 teachers have good teaching methods as they use examples to explain a topic and make the subject relatable. Others only read from the book and try to explain. My general elective- psychology teachers were highly qualified and I enjoyed attending their classes. I always looked forward to our sessions and their teaching methods were impressive. Internal exams were conducted on time with fair announcements. It isn't difficult to pass them if one has studied or attended classes.
Internships Opportunities
A lot of internship opportunities are provided by the cell. Different companies like Pepsi, Nissan, swiggy, uber, Nestle, Aina think India, My captain offer internships in different fields. They provide a stipend of 5000-10000 per month and some provide a letter of recommendation. These companies offer internships in digital marketing, finance, HR department, brand ambassador, Sales.
Placement Experience
In the field of history, we don't get many placement opportunities just after graduation. You have to at least do a master's in history for a decent job in the field. Most students opt for giving UPSC exams and join civil services After graduating. After my degree, I am going to change my field to psychology and do my master's degree in psychology.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee requirement is fine but the infrastructure needs to be worked on, there are not enough facilities for all the students. The existing infrastructure is not in a good condition. I didn't need financial assistance.
Campus Life
The annual fest is Manjari which is celebrated in the month of February. The library has different sections for different subjects but the course books are in low capacity. There are not enough classrooms for different subjects. The desks and chairs are in poor condition. Every department has its own society. There are different societies like dance, music, debate, quiz, drama, and clubs like the environmental club, financial club, marketing club, placement club, and UPSC club run by students.
