Remarks
The admission process is based on its entrance exam score, i.e., jee main score and rank. The open & closing rank varies year to year but the range remains almost the same, that is, under 40000 if you have a home quota otherwise under 10000. Basically, I have applied for NIT Durgapur along with IIEST shibpur & some other IIITS. My priority has always been NIT Durgapur as it is in my hometown..barely a distance of 20 minutes from my house. Others were its alternatives. After your name gets selected in the counselling process and get one of your applied colleges, you are given a time of 48 hrs to submit and verify your documents, and also to pay an admission fee of Rs. 35000 which is included in the first semester fees.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I already gained a brief knowledge of this course before filling it in the choice list during the counselling process. I found the subjects quite interesting & so I applied for this course. All the faculty members are very good and much helpful. The faculty: student ratio is nearly 3:11. The faculty members of course are highly qualified and some of them are also researchers. Each professor has their own teaching process not only in this institute but also each & everywhere, hence that cannot be compared. The most important thing is that most of them make the quite interesting and thus it becomes easier to understand. After 5 months there are semester exams which include two continuous assessment tests of 15 & 25 marks respectively. The passing marks are quite low and it is not at all difficult to achieve the passing marks even if one starts his/her preparation just one month before the semester exam.
Internships Opportunities
Since I am recently in the first years of my college, so it till now quite unknown to me about the projects. But I can never forget to tell about the great project of 'pranesh' and recently of 'pranayama' the oxygen concentrator made by our mechanical professors followed by the ex students of the college in collaboration with cmeri, Durgapur, which have helped the country in a major way by saving a lot of innocent lives in these tough times of covid-19.
Placement Experience
Students of the 7th and 8th semester, that is, the final year students are eligible for campus placements. Every year the top companies such as Google, Microsoft Amazon, JP Morgan, etc. and core companies such as Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata metallics, Ashok Leyland, Aditya Birla and PSUs recruit students. Also, mass companies such as TCS and Infosys recruits a huge amount of students. One can always check the website or the Facebook page regarding campus placements for more info. Every year 70-80% of students get placed, the others being sitting for other entrance exams for higher studies or going for research. There is no such plan till now I have thought to do after getting my degree
Fees and Financial Aid
The College have various fee structure depending upon the annual income of parents. It also provides a waiver on hostel fees if applied for a hostel fees scholarship. I am a first year student right now, so no question about getting the job.
Campus Life
There are ample of club run and we'll be managed by the college students. It admires each and every field of interests, such as coding, debating, art, music, dance, quizzing etc. The College have both technical clubs such as Glug, which conducts Aarohan, the biggest technical fest of eastern India, in the similar way it has cca(Cell for Cognitive Activities), ieee sae, etc. and non technical clubs such as strokes, spic macay, literary circle (which conducts verve, the biggest cultural fest of eastern India), quizinc, etc.
Hostel Facilities
My hometown is Durgapur, still, I have chosen for college hostels. It takes a charge of approximately Rs. 3000 per semester, that is, for six months which is quite low. The environment there is too much good. You get to enjoy your hostel Life, you get to meet and know different types of people who are equally studious and funny at the same time. The time they spent in studies, the equal time they spent in enjoying full fledged life.
