Remarks

I applied for college according to their cutoff, so I got admission to Daulat Ram College accordingly. The procedures which I followed are given below: 1. I check the cutoff of all the colleges that were released by DU. Actually, I wait till 3rd list of cut off because they were very high for the best colleges in the first two. 2. When I applied for Daulat Ram College, I applied from the OBC category in which the cutoff was 93% for OBC in the 3rd list(2019). 3. For taking admission, I went to college where I had to carry all the documents that required including the original TC and mark sheet of class 12, caste certificate (it is a must if you are applying from any category), and registration form printouts. They would definitely cross-check everything. 4. They counted marks of the best 4 subjects( any minor subject would lead to a deduction of 2.5% marks in total percentage ) . I was having fine art as a minor subject. So, from 95.5%, it counted as 93%.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose B. A. Political Science because of my interest and my percentage that luckily matched with DRC cutoffs. Although there are 103 students in my class the teachers are simply awesome and they managed to deal with every child. Teachers are well qualified and their teaching quality is excellent. Students easily able to relate politics and news with the subject and this only makes it interesting. Exams happen on regular basis as per DU guidelines. Due to the online shift and changing situation, OBEs are conducting online, and sometimes it lacks the seriousness that exams actually required. It is still not difficult to pass exams, if one gives little time to it then also they could solve question paper and scores much better.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

My campus is famous for commerce placement cell and lots of students come to take part in it. You have to do hard work to improve yourself instead of looking for placement in colleges. There are many colleges where the placement rate is very high but people with skills could only get jobs. Getting a job is easy but only if you have qualities and skills. So try to participate in the internship program and active in whatever field you have chosen.

Placement Experience

4.5

I'm pursuing B. A. (H) in political science, so the scope is on my choice. There is a placement cell for the commerce department. But for theory-like subjects, we have to search for jobs by own. There are plenty of options for which I could go ahead. Although placement is not provided by the college there are many jobs after completing this course. I'm preparing for UPSC and doing social works by joining many foundations and NGOs that work for spreading education and promoting women empowerment and child development. There is where my satisfaction lies.

Fees and Financial Aid

I didn't get any scholarships but the amount itself is not very high like Amity Colleges. But many people are financially so weak that they could not able to pay. So there are programs and scholarships for those who want to apply can apply and get some fees back into their account.

Campus Life

4

There are many fests that are organized by societies, unions, colleges, and department students. There are also good campus facilities and different functions are conducted like miss DRC and there is a big audience hall where all such functions are organized. Fest is one of the best things about it. The college has Library which contains books in lakhs. Also, provide space to study peacefully but there is a high charge on books if not returned on time after issue. NSS and NCC provide great opportunities. There is GYM in college and a big ground for matches and other tournaments. Here, sports day is organized with Great enthusiasm. There are many clubs organized by students.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
