Remarks

I applied only for Daulat Ram College because as admission is merit based, with my class 12th performance, I could make it to the college in the first cut-off only. My OBC quota also helped me here by providing some relief in marks, which required Central Caste Certificate. Admission is merit based, the score required is 80-75% in 12th to get in this program. For admission, the University form and college admission form is required to be filled. On counselling day, you have to be present with your documents, like University and College admission forms, class 12th certificate, 12th board Admit Card, birth certificate/10th certificate, photocopy of domicile, Central Caste certificate, aadhar card etc. for verification and submission. Passport size photographs are also required for the admission process. Fees payment is the last step to complete the admission process, which has to be done within the limited hours after the documents are verified.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Political Science (Hons.) is a good option for civil services aspirant, hence it took no time for me to decide upon the course. Faculty:student ratio is 1:98. Faculty is highly qualified and experienced for not less than 8 years, many have experience of about 15 or 20 years also. Teaching method is highly based on their experience and observation of the outside world and practicle knowledge, which makes study interesting. Professors are student friendly. Syllabus is completed on time and we also get time to discuss ongoing issues or topics from syllabus. This interaction has built and broaden my thinking power. Exams are conducted according to the annual schedule. Not very difficult and not very easy, it was fun, giving exams. I passed my exams based on my practicle knowledge, but yes, off course, it doesn't mean that the exams are a price of a cake. My practicle knowledge only helped when combined with my theoretical study.

Internships Opportunities

4

Companies like Wipro, Coca-cola, Colgate, Microsoft offers job opportunities. Many NGOs also hire interns for 2 to 3 months. Internships are both paid and unpaid. Since I'm in the second year, and never sat for internships, also I'm not interested in the internship, I have less idea about the stipend as well as the type of work or projects they offer.

Placement Experience

4

The college has a Placement cell that takes students from their final years. Many good companies like Wipro, Microsoft, Colgate, Coca-cola etc. come for placement. Package ranges between 4 lakhs to 7 lakhs per annum. Many NGOs also hire interns for 2 to 3 months internship, which helps to develop personality, creativity, confidence and hence, boost your CV. Well, I'm not interested in getting placement from college. I will pursue a masters in higher education after graduation.

Fees and Financial Aid

As it is a government college, fees are not too high. Students can easily afford it. But yes, for some section of students even this can be unaffordable. For that case, University provides scholarships or fee refund of 10,000?, for BPL students. There is another government scholarship NSP (National Scholarship Portal) which gives 10,000? for students scoring above 95%.

Campus Life

4.5

Life at the campus is so fun. Annual Fest is held in February. It's a 2 day fest, 1st DJ night and 2nd day star night. College is decorated with all types of colours, stalls of panipuri, chole kulcha, chap, burger, books, jewellery, handicrafts, etc. fill the college. Competitions for dance, rap battle, treasure hunt etc. are also organised. The library is another thing I like about my college, the only problem is sitting facilities otherwise, it provides all sorts of books and journals, organised properly. Classrooms are spacious, with good quality seats, well-established lights and fans. Sports are also given support. We have a sports meet every year for freshers in September. It offers different types of games and helps freshers to get along with each other and make friends. There are different societies, like Dance, Drama Fine Arts, Gandhi Study Circle, Political on Toast, NSS. NCC and many more. These societies help students to enhance their knowledge and mind.

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
