Remarks
I applied for many courses but this course is the first periority because I have an interest in chemistry. Minimum 75% marks are required in 12th as for JEE main to get admission in NIT Durgapur and college takes admission through JOSSA and CSAB and during admission process staff here is really helpful.
Course Curriculum Overview
As I said earlier I chose this course because if my interest in chemistry. Faculty students ratio is not so good here. All teachers are very qualified and knowledgeable here and almost every teacher has min. PhD degree. But teaching quality differ from teacher to teacher. Course curriculum is relevant and makes students industry ready as placement % is really high in chemical engineering. Almost every month term examination happens in the institute and passing sem exams is really easy here with passing % of almost 90%.
Placement Experience
Approx 82% of students placed in Chemical engineering in the year 2020. In terms of placement % chem. comes second after CSE. The highest lowest and average package are 16,4.2 and 7.52 lpa respectively. Students got placed in major recruiters like Wipro, Jio, Accenture, Tata consultancy, Hero motocorp and Reliance industries. Approx 30-40% students got internship in various companies from chemical engg.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure of the college is affordable for middle class parents. Total cost of study should be approx 7 lakh for my program including hostel and mess charges. But there are some changes in tution fee(62500 rs. per semester) of students based on their family income these are : 1) upto 1 lakh : zero tution fee 2) 1 lakh - 5 lakh : 1/3 tution fee 3) 5 lakh+ : full tution fee There may be some job opportunities on campus with stipend but I didn't have any information about them
Campus Life
There are many fests happen in college like Aarohan ( annual techno management fest ), Recstacy, Verve and many more. Library has huge amount of books from almost every field beyond Engineering also. Some classrooms are old-fashioned but some are smart classrooms with AC and many more facilities. Apart from this we also have a very active sports environment. Our cricket football volleyball badminton table tennis chess is regulars at every annual inter NIT meet and consistently performed well. Club activities cover a very wide spectrum starting from Dramatics Club, Dance Club, Music Club, Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), MNTC, Darpad, Centre for Cognitive Activities (CCA), Entrepreneurship Development Cell, GNU/Linux Users Group, Recursion, and Spic Macay.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel room has many facilities here as 24*7 WiFi, one bed for each student, one study table, almirah, and 24*7 water and electricity supply. Mess serves breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. The menu is decided by mess committee members of the respective hall also Special food once a week. The registration process for a hostel is really smooth and nothing to worry about and on every floor, there is a water cooler.
