Remarks

I applied ME, EE, ECE and CSE in NIT Durgapur and IIEST Shibpur. Intially I was alloted in IIEST Shibpur in Metallurgy branch. But in the last round of JoSAA counselling, I was alloted Mechanical Engg in NIT Durgapur. I opted NIT Durgapur for better placement opportunity. I availed the OBC NCL quota. The admission officer checks the OBC NCL and verifies it with the conditions and validates it. Nothing more is required! For admission, one needs to clear JEE Mains cut off marks. One can appear for JEE 3 times (3 editions of JEE mains). The minimum marks varies everytime. But scoring 180+ confirms an admission. The asmission process was very simple. One needs to report the institute with the documents mentioned by the institute. The institute will verify them and give you the admission. Then you'll be registered to college database and you'll get your registration and roll numbers. This is how the admission process is done. No need to worry about the process.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose the course because I was most supposed to the Mechanical Engg according to the previous years reports. Therefore, I applied for the same, so I got that. The student teacher ratio is generally variable for every dept. For mechanical engg, it is 80:1. Almost every professor is a PhD. Exams are now held thrice every semester of 15,25 and 60 marks

Internships Opportunities

3

There are internship opportunities for students. But the internship opportunities increase in CSE, ECE departments. Core departments have very few internship opportunities. However, there is Vocational Training available for every student.

Placement Experience

4

Campus placements start in the 7th semester. The Tech companies arrive first to the Campus for hiring. The CSE, ECE, EE students start their placement procedure early. Few months later, the core companies arrive. Hence allowing the rest of the departments top sit for the campus placements. Overall Campus placement is good. It's above 70% . The highest package is 44lpa whereas lowest is 5lpa.

Fees and Financial Aid

Course fee for general/OBC students above 5Lakhs income per year is almost 70k per semester. For those, having income between 1-5 lpa, get 66% scholarship and those below 1lpa get 1000% discount. The SC, ST, and PWD students also get 100% scholarships

Campus Life

4

Annual Techno-Management Fest: Aarohan Held in Spring Semester every year. Annual Cultural Fest: Nityamini Libraries are well equipped with thousands of books and journals Classes are well equipped with projectors and mic The sports facility is also decent. There are a lot of societies run by students like CCA, MNTC, SAE, GLUG, IEEE, ISTE, etc

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facilities are really good. Cleans rooms and toilets are there in every hostel. The food is good in every hostel. only the internet facilities are a little weak. The menu is different for different days. We have special meals on Wednesday nights. Hostels are not too much costly, they are economical indeed.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
