Remarks

I got this college from me jee mains rank as I got the college from jee advanced also but the branch that I want was not available so I choose NIT Durgapur college in my CSAB round because before this I got CSE branch in IIIT Kurnool but it is very new and not very developed in the facility and far away from city according to my knowledge. I don't avail any quota but I come under the Gen-EWS category but it comes into my knowledge after entering into the Jossa counselling. The admission process is very simple as you lock the college in any round of CSAB or Jossa you will get a bonafide certificate and admission certificate through your mail where the sem registration process is also written in it. The marks should be 100 - 96 percentile for the gen. category to get into this college. The above details that I provided are of online counselling done during the lockdowns in 2020.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I choose the Chemical Engineering course as it has many scopes in the research field and also the industry is vast. The faculty-student ratio in my college is 16:420. It is the ratio of overall from 3rd sem to 8the sem. But in my 3rd sem, I have 11 professors on 70 students who taught us so it depends totally on your sem. The faculty is highly qualified from the different research fields. We have 6 professors and the rest are assistant professors. There are three exams that happened in one semester. First is CA1 of 15 marks for each subject which held after one month of the starting of the sem after this CA2 of 25 marks for each subject will be held and in last End sem will be held which is of 60 marks for each subject. The question of exams is of very good level. But you crack these questions by following your professor's notes and classes.

Internships Opportunities

4

This year I saw a very good internship opportunity for our college students as 10 people got Microsoft SDE intern, Capegimini intern, Tata steel intern, NITI aayog intern and you can go for research intern in DRDO, HAL, ISRO, IITs, IISC, etc.

Placement Experience

4

From the seventh semester, students are eligible for placements. You can go for an internship from the 5th semester. The Company that comes last year in 2020 are TCS, Infosys, Codenation, Samsung R&D, WellsFargo, Amazon, Qualcomm, Capgemini, Google India, and many reputed companies. Total 116 companies arrived last time. 506 total jobs offered in which 456 total placed and rest go for higher studies and entrepreneurship or startups. The highest package offered last year us 44 LPA CTC and the average is 8.5 LPA CTC. About 71.92% placed last year. My plan is to go for research in a foreign institute in AI / Robotics and Space research field.

Fees and Financial Aid

About Fess structure, In this lockdown period, the fess that you have to pay with inclusive of the Hostel establishment charge is 68500. About scholarship, there is a category on parents' income and your category. The second scholarship is on basis of the state as you will get the scholarship from your state as the UP government provides scholarships to students as the same West Bengal government provides scholarships to their state students. The third scholarship is from the National Scholarship Portal for students of minority communities with an annual income of less than 2.5 lakh. There is a fourth scholarship from ONGC. You can find more information about scholarships from the buddy4study website.

Campus Life

4.5

I have no experience of campus life because I spent my one and half year online. But by talking with seniors I got some insights into campus life. According to the campus life is one of the best experiences of their lives because in that time they make new friends which are from different states and different cultures. According to him the life at Hall 11 is one of the best hostel life of NIT Durgapur. On-campus, you will find some good places like Techno, Duck Point, Nescafe point, Oval ground, SAC, Main academic building, and many more. There is also an SBI Bank at the campus. There is a library in college. According to seniors, these libraries have a lot of books and the student never purchases any book from the market because you can issue the book from the library free of cost. But online our college faculty made a virtual library where lots of books are available. There are clubs handled by students which are: SAENITDGP, CCA, GNU/LINUX, MNTC, LC, DEBSOC, EDC, ENTERACT, etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel has all facilities for basic living but some things are not good like Wifi Networks. The meal is good of our college for eating especially veg. Nonveg is not of good level. You will get about the information of menu at NITDURGAPUR website.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
