Remarks

In 2019, I only applied to Delhi University (DU) based on merit. In the first cut-off, I was accepted to Mata Sundri College for Women (96%), and in the second cut-off, I was accepted to Daulat Ram College (96.5%). The admissions procedure at both colleges was very smooth but very time-consuming. On the day of admission, several documents were required which were previously stated on the DU website. The cancellation of my application at Mata Sundri College was a tumultous procedure. Although DU had stated that students would not be required to cancel their previous applications, I was requested the cancellation receipt at Daulat Ram College. After the completion of the admission procedure at both colleges, I was given a booklet which has all the information related to the college. The eligibility criteria for admissions in DU require 10+2 education, to apply in BA, B.Com, and BSc one should have passed 12th with minimum percentage required and there is no age limit stated by DU.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I took admission in BA (Hons) Psychology at Daulat Ram College because the faculty of the psychology department is exceptional. All the permanent and some of the assistant professors have Ph.D. degrees in Psychology. Each professor has their own field of expertise and is part of mental health organizations that have given us the oppurtunities to experience research paper writing, workshops, and conferences. Teaching methods like presentations, role-play, and experiential training are actively used. The department has an active association that oversees several co-curricular activities throughout the year and also published the departmental magazine "PsyTrack". During the offline classes, there used to be written internals and final exams but since the pandemic, the department is smoothly conducting these exams online.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

I personally don't have experience of internships through my college but several companies like AIESEC, VOMS, McKinsey &Rice, KRG, The Tarzan Way, Unschool, Sharekhan, and Ksenia Consultation put up their job offers during the annual fair and many students get a chance to build their CV's through these internships.

Placement Experience

4.5

The college's placement cell has been working towards bringing in more placement oppurtunites for the students. They also organize an annual intership and career fair called "Incrementum". Last year, a number of students were placed in several esteemed companies like Accenture, Deloitte, digiversal, and HYPD. They also organize several workshops and seminars that help the students to build their CV's or to make them aware of the career oppurtunities in each field.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for BA (Hons) Psychology in 2020-2021 was Rs17,490. There is concessional/waiver of fees in respect to Persons with Disabilities (PwD). Students belonging to SC/ST, OBC, EWS, PwP quota are eligible for fellowships as well. The students belonging to SC/ST are awarded Post-Matric Scholarships and there is also Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme for J&K students. The placement cell of the college is very efficient and has helped the students get placed in companies like Accenture, Deloitte, HYPD, TravClan, Larsen &Toubro, etc. Every year there is an internship and career fair called "Incrementum" where a number of companies and NGOs come with various job offers.

Campus Life

3.5

As Daulat Ram College (DRC) is in the north campus, the campus life is filled with a number of diverse experiences not only from one's own college but from the assimilation with other college students as well. DRC has its own share of diversity through its annual fest called "Manjari" and separate fests of several societies in the colleges the debating society, poetry society, dramatics society, fine arts society, quiz society, film and photography society to name a few. There is a mandatory option between NSS, NSO, and NCC. The college has its own annual magazine called "Pramlia". The classrooms are well furnished and some of them are equipped with projectors and computers for better learning.

Other Applied Colleges

Mata Sundri College for Women, Delhi University | BA (hons) Psychology

I got into a better college in second cut off.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
