Remarks
The admission process was completely online, through JoSSA and CSAB. We didn't have to report to the institute, in view of the pandemic. JoSSA consisted of 6 rounds of online counseling for seat allocation and CSAB (also known as the Mop-Up round) consisted of 2 rounds for filling up the vacant seats. The vacancy is created mainly due to the non-reporting of students at the respected institute. In this case, it is due to the submission of insufficient documents before the given deadline or due to non-payment of fees as prescribed by the Council.
Course Curriculum Overview
I'm a student of Mechanical Engineering. However, in 1st year, I was in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. I got my branch changed at the end of 1st yr, as I had a good CGPA and a decent rank. There are around 500 faculty members and the college has over 5000 students, from all streams and all years. So roughly the faculty: student ratio is around 1: 10. The faculties here are highly qualified, most of them having completed their B.Tech or BE from reputed Engineering colleges in India. Some have even received education in foreign universities. Almost all faculties have completed their M.Tech and Ph.D. from various IITs. So, definitely, the quality of education is never compromised. Exams have always been conducted on time. In view of the online situation, the duration of the semesters and of the exams have been reduced. In offline classes, End Sem exams used to be of 3 hours but now they are of 2 hours and paper is sometimes difficult.
Internships Opportunities
Since I am currently in the 3rd semester i haven't applied for any internship however this year many reputed companies visited the campus and a lot of students grabbed internship opportunities in companies like MICROSOFT, Capgemini, TATA Steel, HAL, IISc, DRDO, NITI Aayog, etc. All these companies offered a good stipend to the students and some of our seniors also got PPO in these companies.
Placement Experience
Students from the 5th semester can apply for internships and those in the 7th semester are eligible to sit in the campus placements. Many reputed companies visited last year in our campus include many reputed campuses like TCS, Infosys, Amazon, Gooogle India, Capgemini, Samsung R&D. Total 116 companies arrived last time. Total 506 jobs were offered and a total of 456 were placed. The remaining no. of students either went for higher studies or started their own startups. The highest package offered last year was 44LPA CTC and the average package was 8.5 LPA CTC. About 71.92% of students got placed last year. After getting the degree I want to pursue higher studies after qualifying for the GATE examinations.
Fees and Financial Aid
Taking about the fee structure in the pandemic period we paid about 70,000 per semester which included the semester fee+ the hostel establishment charges. There are numerous opportunities for students who want to avail scholarships; firstly students get scholarships based on their category, then there are scholorships which various state governments provide to the students. Also, the National scholorship portal provides opportunities to the minority community students and the students with family income less than 2.5 lakh to avail the scholarship. one can also apply for scholorship from ONGC.
Campus Life
Although I haven't seen the campus yet because of the pandemic still I can give some insights about college life on the basis of the experience of my seniors. They told me that the best phase in the 4 years of engineering is the time which a student passes in 1st year i.e. in hall 11 (in case of boys). Our campus has a huge library with a large collection of books. This year college has also started an online library keeping in mind the need of the hour. There are several clubs and societies run by students in our college namely: CCA, SAE, MNTC, EDC, LC, Spic macay, Music club, Dnaceclub etc..
