Course Curriculum Overview

4

Because I wanted. Faculty members are really good and they are more than qualified. All the faculties are highly qualified with PhDs from IITs, NITs and foreign universities. Course curriculum is curated in a way to impart more practical feed. It helps the students to get industry-ready. Teachers are extremely helpful and they are always ready to help during study time. Teachers put their best effort to clear all doubts of student.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are pretty decent at NIT Durgapur.Approximately 100 companies, both giants and start ups from almost all sectors visit for recruitment every year and the alumni base is getting strong year after year.To name a few, Oracle, Reliance, Tata, Endurance, ITC, HUL, Amazon, Factset, Directi, Maruti, Honda, CESC, Ashok Leyland, Microsoft, PwC, Goldman Sachs, Capgemini, Schneider electric, Vedanta, IOC, BPC,HPC, Coal India, Hero, Mahindra, Bajaj, Amadeus, Mu Sigma, Futures First, etc are the brands that visit.

College Events

You wake up due to your roommate's alarm at 6am while he sleeps till noon. You share everything, soap, clothes, toothpaste, deos and what not with your roomie. You start saying I'm fine even when you feel sick. You understand that friends are not the ones you usually hangout with, they are the ones you can call whenever you feel low.You get to watch cricket matches and football matches in the campus halls with a crowd of 100+ loud, energetic youngsters like you. Seriously something worth experiencing. You can eat anything. Just anything. The food in the mess is something you will have to get used to.You get involved in all on campus activities, and you learn what is teamwork. You learn how to adjust, and to behave well even with the people whom you actually hate. You give everything a shot. Being on campus gives you and independent lifestyle, allows you freedom to fulfil your dreams. Finally, you are given the warmest welcome when you return home. Definitely absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Campus Life

5

Initially you will feel like any other institute. You will witness an institution with some 200 acres of land and numerous trees, 14 halls of residences-some with nice facilities, some not so well managed but ultimately you will fall for those messy and less managed ones. The campus has basic facilities of healthcare- A medical unit though less trusted yet highly popular among students and definitely talked about a lot. The campus has some time variant canteens, wait, by time variant I mean to say, their number and functioning is highly versatile. After having a dinner at night, you may not get a morning coffee at the same place, Because it may have been shut down. Don't worry, there are alternatives ready, you will manage to find some way or the other. Right outside the main gate, you can enjoy some delicious and economically good food from Jhoops'. You may need a mask maybe if you are allergic to smoke. Details you would come to know after your visit. Till then let's not spoil everything for you. There is a duck pond. Hope you get to spend some quality time there. And the most important thing, all hostels have LAN or free wifi connectivity. Speed I guess is okay for most hostels. You must be thinking that I was factual, satirical and critical at the same time while describing the campus but the reality is all complaints put aside, you are gonna love the campus and miss it terribly.

Admission

No. It was written test JEE MAIN. Let me explain it in detail. My paper attempting order was 1.C 2.P 3.M (Chemistry first because it took very less time).I used to finish Chemistry in about 40 mins, then moved to Physics my favorite subject, solve many questions and about 1 hour 10 minutes used to be left for Maths. Now, I used to try solving questions, I used to waste too much time on some specific questions because I was unsure of my methods (I might get the correct answer so I was reluctant to skip them).

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
