Remarks
To get admission in NIT Durgapur one must qualify the Jee mains examination with a decent rank then take part in Josaa and CSAB counselling rounds. The application fees includes the examination of fee of Jee mains, i.e 650 INR and after counselling one must have to pay a sum of 35,000 to lock their seat(if get in any round of counselling). After that during admission, 40,000 INR should be paid. Offcourse, like all government colleges, NITD also provides benifits to the reserved category candidates.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose the course because I found that the course has a vast future and scope. For most of the subjects, the student faculty ratio is very decent and almost in a single subject more than three four faculty available. One can take advantage of the highly qualified faculty to take their knowledge to the next level. Most of the faculty of PhD in our college with a great sense of teaching. In a given semester, there are three exams. The exams are easy to pass as the paper level is set in the basis of level of teaching.
Internships Opportunities
A student of NITD avail to have an internship in top MNCs. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, JPMC, etc offers an internship and if the performance of a student is good then they get a PPO as well. Stiphen is between 25-50k based on the company. Most of the tech branch students get internship opportunity while over 50% from core branches also gets internship opportunities.
Placement Experience
From the third semester a student may apply for an internship, while in last semester most of the students get placements in many companies visiting campus during the placement drive. Major job offering companies are Microsoft, JPMC, Wells Fargo, Infosys, ZS Associate, Tata Metalliks, etc. For tech branches almost 90% students got placed while in core branches more than 65% get placements after B.tech. After getting degree, I would like to go for a placement in campus placement drive.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tution fee for a general candidate is 62,500 per sem. After that some other fees are there which makes around 70,000 per sem. The waiver of fee is also given according to the family annual income. If annual income is <1 lpa then whole tution fee is waived, if between 1 to 5 lpa 2/3rd of tuition fee is waived. For Sc/St & PWD candidates there is no tution fee. There are some scholarship provided by both WB & Central govt a student can get benifits. The placement is decent for core branches and almost full for tech branches. If one prepare well and is serious about getting a job or intern opportunity then he/she must gets it.
Campus Life
The fests like Aarohan, Aaviskar, Recstacy are very famous around the east india. Aarohan is the second largest annual tech fest of East India. The library of the college is also well maintained with most of the books and journals requires a student to read in engineering. Extra curriculum activities includes sports and yoga, which also has some credit points so students must have to take part in all these to get a decent marks. There are many groups clubs are runned by students of NITD. Clubs like EDC, Strokes, Prakriti, etc are there in college.
