Remarks

Admission procedure for almost every college under Delhi University is through merit (that is, by the marks availed in the 12th class) during 2019. For BA Economics H, one must have studied maths and English during the 12th standard. The procedures of the application and application form will be shared through the official website of Delhi University. The cutoff will be within 95-100 in major colleges under DU. Ours was 97. There will be reservations based on caste, gender (only in very few colleges), as well as students will get admission through sports and ECA Quota. Before covid time, students have to go respective colleges which they cleared cut off as well as they wish to join between the respective period the university allows to take admission. But, now everything is online. The fee structure will be different according to colleges. In Hindu, for our courses fees are almost 17000, but for science courses, it is 24000. I think the university should make the admission process more flexible.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose Economics (H) as I was more into economics, mathematics, and commerce subjects. As well as many colleges under DU offer direct placements after economics graduation. The faculty of Hindu college, economics are so qualified and have very high knowledge in the field of the subject. The way of academic discussion by them are also so helpful for increasing the academic brilliance of students. The course will cover 26 papers (2 among them are general electives) which will be covered by almost 12-15 faculties. An opportunity for selecting papers for our course is also available. There are almost 70 students among them 3-5 NRI students in our class. The exam will be conducted right after each sem and the result will be published during the next right sem. For each paper, there will be internal papers(either assignments or exams or projects) which will be evaluated by subject teachers of respective colleges. Almost every faculty are completed a Ph.D. from renowned universities.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Abhyas-the internship society of Hindu college introduces you to various paid and non-paid internships. I have done 2 paid and 2 non-paid internships. Internships with stipend are for the companies, My gate(as a Market researcher, average 8k per month and completed with 3 months) and Shiksha.com. Two non-paid internships were for some NGOs. Faculties of each subject will guide you to do certain projects with research so that it will increase your skills in Research Methodology and Data analysis and in turn, these projects will be good impressions for Internship and Placement offering interview teams.

Placement Experience

3.5

Hindu college provides good placements, with an average of 6 LPA salaries. I haven't applied for placements as I am planning to continue my higher studies after graduation. My classmates received offer letters from companies like Accenture, Microwave, Byjus, Decathlon, etc. The packages will be within 3-12 LPA. 3/10 students who applied got placed in our batch. Also, students got admission to various foreign universities like Oxford, Cambridge, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

The annual fee will be within 17k for B.A Economics (H) at Hindu College, which varies as per college and courses. This 17k includes library fee, tuition fee, exam fee, maintenance, etc. The fees are high compared to many other Indian universities, but so low comparing some foreign universities. The high fee might repel the students coming from a low financial background. The girl's hostel fee is almost 1.30 lakhs and for boys, it is 70 k per year. The college will provide a "Students assistant Fund" for those who can't afford college fees. There is no particular scholarship provided by the university. But, students can apply for inspiration, minority scholarship, etc. Students will get campus placement if they have done enough internships as well as according to their brilliance, skills, and marks. I have done internships from my college for a company named "My gate" and got 8000 per month. Students will get the opportunity to work for various NGOs without getting paid.

Campus Life

4.5

The ambiance and exposure college offers for academic and non-academic activities are so great. There is an annual fest, "Mecca", conducted between January and March which is one of the greatest fests of Delhi. Almost all academic books are available at Library. The classrooms are of AC and Non AC with proper infrastructures. The college encourages and participates in various inter-college and inter-university sports matches and Art festivals. There are spaces for courts and grounds for almost every game. Also, students run various societies such as enactus, abhyas for an internship, Diksha cell for placement. Certain societies like arambh, adhritha, etc are available for those students who are into music and dance.

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
