Remarks
The college is more like school and less like a college. There are always attendance issues. You need to have a certain amount of attendance for giving the exam. There should be more flexibility in the course structure as well.
Entrance Preview
I didn't give any entrance because I was enrolled in batch of 2013 and in that year FYUP i.e. four year undergraduate course. So in that admission was done on the basis of percentage.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure was pretty good as it had equal amount of practical and theoretical subjects. There were written tests and practicals as well. I studied introduction to journalism, which told about the do's and don'ts ,ethics of journalism how to write for print and online media. Mass communication covered all the marketing, public relations and sales stuff. In which it was taught that how mass communication is affecting public what affect it has on us. Opinion leaders and followers. How different marketing strategies by multi national companies help them in gaining profits. How advertisements are made and how promotions are done. I studied new media which talked about Facebook, YouTube Twitter and how normal people are getting popular with user generated content
Internships Opportunities
No, we were only allowed for internships which were during the holidays. No holidays were given for internships and the college had strict rule about it.
Placement Experience
There were not many companies. When it came to placement the packages that were offered were very low and there was one firm in which I went that was APB holding, they were offering a very low package of 1,50,000 per annum. Moreover there was no guidance about which job we should opt for. The placement facilities of my college was not too good.
College Events
In my college they have college fears for different departments and seminars. The fest which belongs to my department is Parampara, in which there are many activities such as photography competition, on spot movie making and later on traditional and Western dance competition in which dance societies of all college's participated. The participation really mattered because all of them were awarded with cash prizes and DU beat covered our college's fest. For fresher's party Hindustan times HT city used to arrange a fresher's party for us.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure depends upon the course since journalism and mass communication was a new and expensive course it was not cheap unlike other DU courses. In first year I submitted 68,500 and in second and third year I submitted 35,500. Examination fees are not included in them
Fees and Financial Aid
The scholarships were available only for those who belonged to Schedule cast, schedule tribe or other backward castes and in other case you could talk to the college faculties for scholarships. If any mis happening happens the college fees was waived off. In my class one girls father died so her fees was waived off because she couldn't afford it.
Campus Life
Since it's a girls college it is very chilled out. There are no judgements passed on anyone wear anything fo anything and no one would judge you. The parties were really good as some live bands were asked to perform at each fest. The cultural societies are good and those who really want to do something and have a passion for it they should go for it. As the societies participates everywhere you get the chance to learn and gain more experience. A girl from my batch got a chance to go to Hong Kong as she was in NSS and social work. She is currently working in an NGO
Hostel Facilities
I was not staying in a pg or hostel so I don't know about it. But the college's hostel was pretty strict but had all the facilities on time from good to WiFi connection. The college's canteen is good and serves affordable and hygienic food. If you want to enjoy a good meal at cheap rate then our college's canteen is good. From South Indian food, parantha , chai cold drink to fresh juices you will find everything here.
Alumni/Alumna
My experience was really good the alumni and Seniors were really helpful and guided us about everything.
Exam Structure
The exam structure was just like other DU college's. There were 10 total questions two from each unit and you had to attempt any 5. The question papers were not too difficult but each question consisted of 15 marks so we had to write many pages for a single question. At the end of the day we were left with a hectic day, it's not at all chilled out. You have to leave your bag outside the exam room, no phones allowed and water was provided inside the exam room only.
Admission
I registered myself online first on the DU website and carried the registration form with myself. I kept a check on the cut off list both online and offline then when the cut off came down I went to my college then there was a team of faculties for every course and department. They gave me a form and I had to fill all the information on it, the administration was really helpful they were available all the time.i had to carry all of my original documents with me.
Faculty
The facilities of my college were very experienced in their fields. And they shared their own experience with us through out all the years of my college. They gave us proper course material taught us how to deal with tricky questions. They helped us throughout our practicals as well. During our projects they took extra weekly classes for discussing about which approach we are following how much the project is completed.and if there is any help that we need.
