Course Curriculum Overview
The mechanical engineering branch at NIT Durgapur is a good choice. You can expect a good level of education here as the faculty members here are quite good and advanced. Their teaching method is student-friendly and quite interactive. 3 exams are conducted every semester summing up to 100 marks and you can pass them if you attend classes properly and practice the previous year's question papers.
Internships Opportunities
Companies visiting our college hire software engineers, analysts, and mechanical and chemical engineers. They offer a good amount of stipend for interns. The stipend is around 15000 to 80000 depending on your role and branch.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for on-campus placements from the 4th year onwards and for internships, you are eligible from 3rd year onwards. A Career Development Center is available which brings various placement and internship opportunities for the students. Many top companies visit our college for placements and internships. The highest package offered last year was 56 lpa and the average package is around 14 lpa. Almost 80-90 % of students are placed from every branch.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for students under the SC Category range around 14000 per semester which is quite affordable and there is negligible fee hike in tuition fees. You can also get various scholarships if your family income is less and also many scholarships are provided by the state government if you have completed your high school education from the state board.
Campus Life
Two annual fests are conducted here, one is the annual techno-management fest known as AAROHAN and the annual cultural fest known as RECSTACY. A central library is available here which has a huge collection of books. The classrooms are well-designed and air-conditioned. There is also a canteen in the academic building available. You are good to go if you have a love for sports as almost every sport is played here such as football, badminton, basketball, cricket etc., and an annual sports fets is also conducted every year. Various clubs are also there which give you an opportunity to learn new skills through various events conducted by them.
Hostel Facilities
Every student is provided with hostel accomodation here. Various facilties such as water coolers, common rooms, playground, badminton court etc are available and they are well maintained also. The food seved in mess is upto the mark and veg food is also provided. The mess charges is around 19000 per semester.
Admission
A student has to appear Jee mains examination to be eligible to take admission in NIT Durgapur. The application is released every year on the NTA exam portal. There is a minimal application charge. After you appear for the exam you have to apply for the counselling process in which you have to fill in your choices. For admission to NIT Durgapur in the mechanical engineering branch, you have to secure an India rank of around 1lakh if you belong to the SC category.
