Remarks

Infrastructure needs to be improved a lot according to the fees charged to the students and focus of the management should be shifted towards maintenance of the campus as well. The best part was that I am in the city of Delhi where I learnt to survive and evolve. This has been the great advantage of choosing such a course in such a city. Overall, it was a little above average experience for me.

Entrance Preview

Entrance is based upon class 12 th scores and on merit list. The college comes under the Delhi university therefore the cut off merit list made out becomes the basis of admission to this as well as all the DU colleges. No entrance test or interview is required as such. I think it was my destiny to come here as no such things were planned.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I took up B.A Hons. Political Science. The curriculum prescribed for this course here is totally theoretical and not practical. This is a great downside of courses like this in Delhi University. Although, the curriculum is not that tough and one can score good marks with normal studies.

Internships Opportunities

I have never heard of our college providing internships to students. Although, I managed to get one on my own the last summer in 2017. It is necessary to do an internship and maintain a day to day progress in a diary provided by college. Even this carries marks and its mostly for honours student.

Placement Experience

1

Placements are good only for colleges in North Campus and not for colleges like us because I can’t find any companies visiting our campus for placements. At the end, students have to apply for jobs off campus.

College Events

4.5

A variety of events are organized here in the college every year related to every topic whether it is technology, management or ethnic culture. A farewell party and fresher’s night is organized for the students every year. Competitions are held at a grand level and that encourages huge participation from the students. The year is always happening. Some thing or the other of one or other departments keep on going all the year around and if some time you feel bored, you have the whole Delhi University which always have something. If we count about the events in the DU, 365 days would be less. So for social life we never worried.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Tuition fees charged here is quite expensive and sums up to be Rs. 20,000 per annum which is high on compared to other courses. Fees is not affordable for most of the students of the college.

Fees and Financial Aid

No idea about it. I don’t think if any scholarship or loan are offered to students.

Campus Life

3.5

This college don’t have any focus on extracurricular activities unless it is related to Sikhs. To get an opportunity and recognition, you have to fight and achieve really good results. If not, college will not give a damn.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

There aren’t are any hostel facilities provided yet but we do have a canteen in the college which has very poor food quality and high rates. As far as structure of the campus is concerned, it is really uninviting. I am totally unsatisfied with the facilities provided by the college.

Alumni/Alumna

There is no such event like Alumni meet in our college. But apart from that, our college have really good seniors that are ready to help us anytime whenever you want.

Exam Structure

Exams are totally theoretical but we used to have computer vivas and projects in first year that were practical based. Days here are less hectic and we have ample time left for extra- curricular activities in the college. On a total, exams are manageable.

Faculty

3

There’s a mixed variety of teachers here. Though, most of them are highly qualified and deliver very powerful lectures while some of them quite boring as well. For me, most of the teachers are very boring and make me sleep. Political Science is a subject that needs great depth knowledge as well as it needs great way of teaching which lacks in the teachers of this course all over Delhi colleges apart from JNU.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
