Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because my all-India rank in jee main was 28k. So I was alloted to this branch. Also, Durgapur is an industrial area so mechanical engineering has a great placement opportunity. The student ratio in our branch is 1:3 ( female: male). Here faculty is great. The professors are highly qualified and they published an enormous number of books. Our total semester is under 6 months so nearly mid-term exam happens in 2.5 months after that end sem happens nearly after 2.5 months. it's easy to pass an exam if we follow the class. The question was not that hard.
Internships Opportunities
We can do internships in IITs and also research internships under our faculty. Also, there are companies like JP Morgan PWC that provide internship also Tata Metals provide great internship here. There are many projects. It can be IT-related or core-related but good academics always help in both.
Placement Experience
From the final year, students are eligible for placement. Microsoft, JP Morgan, Accenture, PWC, and Tata Steel were the biggest companies that recruited from our college. They took 40 people each from campus. The highest placement was off campus at 1.3 cr. And the average is above 10 lpa. More than 80 percent of students were placed. I'll try to get a placement after my degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is no fee hike and the fee is just like other NITs. There was a division of fee dues to caste and income differences. The classification is under 1lakh under 5 lakh under lakh yearly income. There was a scholarship for girls and students who are financially weak can opt for the Swami Vivekananda scholarship. They provide 60000 rupees per year.
Campus Life
Our annual fest is RECSTACY. our tech fest is Arohan which was held in March month. There was an enormous library which was filled with books and there was a study room facility available. The classroom was neat and Air-conditioned. There is an indoor badminton court table tennis court. Also football field as well as volleyball ground. There is a basketball ball ground cricket practice net and a long tennis ground.
Hostel Facilities
Our hostel is huge and has the facility of lift and fire safety. Each room has 3 beds 3 cupboards and 3 tables and chairs. Hostel food quality is decent sometimes is degraded and sometimes it is very tasteful. Hostel registration process first we had to pay hostel fees before we boarded the hostel and were allotted rooms according to line and we had to submit the pay slip for hostel mess fees. Locality there are plenty of people who will provide rooms for an affordable price just outside of campus.
Admission
Eligibility criteria for the general category is to have nearly 12000 India rank in Jee Mains for CSE and less than 30000 rank for mechanical in Jee Mains. The admission process was through the online Chanakya portal. We had to submit our board mark sheet. And jee mains report along with photo signature and front page of passbook. Then we had to pay the hostel fees. There is a reservation quota and also a female quota. The old portal of our college was so slow. Sometimes payment issue was found but the new portal is fast and reliable so it is already an improvement.
