Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is quite good with moderate pressure throughout the semesters except for a few semesters difficulty level varies with branches in various semesters. Faculty members are very good with high qualifications and very efficient in their respective fields. The teaching methods of faculties vary. Some are quite good but some make the classes a bit boring. The faculty and student ratio is 1:4.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are quite good students are encouraged to sit for internships. Various companies visit the campus including core and tech companies to offer students from various departments. Information in more detail is clearly mentioned on the NIT Durgapur website.
Placement Experience
Placements are quite good on campus. NIT Durgapur especially trains and encourages to students to sit for internships and placements. A student is eligible to sit for internships at the beginning of 3rd year and placements from the beginning of the final year. A student can manage to get a PPO, after completing the internship in the 3rd year which is also encouraged by the student. The other criteria regarding placements and internships are quite well-defined on the official website.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure for general students is nowadays quite high. Studying at government universities we do need to pay 80000 per semester for the BTech course. The fee hike for the general students is mainly after when the reservation policy was applied for SC, and ST students and they do not need to pay any amount of fees, leaving the tution fees mess fess is also required per semester which is 19,000 which also adds a big amount to the existing cost for the tution. Various Scholarship assistant is there for students belonging to low-income family varies in income range and meritorious scholarships are also provided by the institution.
Campus Life
Life on campus is quite good. It comes with a total area of 200 acres with huge greenaries and 14 hostels to accommodate girls and boys also with a newly introduced mostly skyscraper building that is nothing but the research building campus is at its peak with the beautifulness of the academic buildings and the departments specifically with an ad on of beautiful greenaries all throughout the campus. The campus walks and night walks are quite interesting. One of the cons is there is no night canteen. There are various fests throughout the year, the main fests conducted by the college are Recrave, the food fest, Aarohan the technical fest, and Recstacy the cultural fest, which are conducted in November, February, and May respectively. Books are sparsely available in the library and those are easily accessible. Classrooms are highly efficient with AC and smart boards, charging points, and microphones. There are extracurricular activities and there are clubs run by students.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel accommodation is good with three students clubbed together which implies for all four years of BTech student, facilities in the room are a study table chair, night lamp, bed (without mattress) mattress should be bought on their own, an almirah fan light, etc. mess food is not that good.
Admission
Eligibility required for this is, that an individual needs to qualify for the JEE MAINS exam with a required percentile and clear the cutoff according to the category of the student (if the student belongs to a category) a student needs to get the percentile required or clear the general cutoffs to get any seat in any of the NITs.
