Course Curriculum Overview
The subject I got was owing to my general category all India rank which was 19913 in 2021 JEE mains. Mostly every batch consists of approximately 900 to 950 students out of which 700 to 750 are males and 200 to 250 are females. The faculty are mostly well qualified to teach a subject. However the teaching quality is highly subjective while some professors are really friendly and easy to approach and can make the subject quite comprehensive and interesting, the other side of the coin exists as well just like any other college. The semesters are a bit short mostly of 4 months each thus reducing the gap between major exams. The papers are subjective depending on professors and the subjects on basis of their difficulty. However for someone regular at studies, it is pretty normal to not just pass but score well.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are decent here. However, it could be better as the percentage of on-campus internships is much lower than on-campus placements. Some companies that come for internships include Microsoft, Wells Fargo, Accenture, BNY and so on. A wide range of stipends are provided the highest being 2.5 laks in the total duration of 2 months to 25 thousand in 2 months.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. A number of companies including Microsoft, Accenture, PWC, CESC, BNY, TEXAS INSTRUMENTS, SAMSUNG, Adobe, etc. visit the college. Near about 150 companies in placement. In 2023 the highest on-campus placement was of 80 LPA by Atlassian. At an average, the placements are of 8 to 11 lpa. The percentage of students placed in 2023 was 83 per cent on campus. My personal plan after getting the degree is to go for an MBA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are pretty much high for the general category and OBC students summing up to an amount of 76300 tuition fees just for one sem. On the other hand, SC and st students have to pay 13800 per sem for tuition fees. A number of scholarships are especially for international students. On-campus opportunities are increasing these days and placement rates are high, 2022 has the highest placements from metallurgy followed by ece, Electrical and cse.
Campus Life
The annual cultural fest is Recstacy which is also the second-largest cultural fest in Eastern India. The tech fest is Arohan. The first one is held in April and the second in March. A large variety of books are available in the library. Classroom amenities are quite average as not all classes are digitalised. Sports facilities are decent on campus. A number of clubs exist including an entrepreneurship and development club, a number of cultural clubs, dramatics, dance and music clubs as well as a student Alumni Interaction Cell. The campus and social life are decently good at the campus.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are extremely poor in most hostels, however, the newer hostels provide better facilities. The meal quality isn't very good at the mess. The registration links are provided for the hostel during semester registration itself. The mess Fee is somewhat higher than the quality of food provided which is currently 19000 per sem. There are places such as the city centre, 54 feet area and North gate where there are a number of places available for a rented room or PG.
Admission
The eligibility criteria depend on a number of factors, being all India rank, gender, state and any reservation if applicable. The application form, fees and application dates can be on the website itself. Reservation is of various types namely obc, sc, st, pwd, ews as well as a percentage of reservations is for female candidates. For each of the above cases the AIR needed gets reduced. In addition, if a candidate is not a general candidate or an OBC, the fee reduces from 76300 per sem to 13800 per sem. The admission process is much better nowadays owing to better technology and it can be expected that with time more technology should be adopted thus making the process even simpler.
